The Halloween season that has grown from a single night on Oct. 31 to a monthslong celebration of all things wicked will soon stretch to a year-round scare-a-thon when Universal Studios opens a first-of-its-kind attraction dedicated to blood, guts and gore.
The world’s first Universal Horror Unleashed haunted experience from the creators of Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights will debut in Las Vegas on Aug. 14 at the 40-acre Area15 entertainment center. Universal has begun employee previews in advance of the grand opening.

Universal Horror Unleashed will be housed in a 100,000-square foot warehouse in the experiential retail complex about 10 minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip.
The year-round haunted attraction in Las Vegas will be a permanent version of the Halloween Horror Nights seasonal events held each year at Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando, Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Singapore.
The Las Vegas Horror Unleashed venue will feature four haunted houses, four themed areas, two themed restaurants, two themed bars and live entertainment.
The initial collection of haunted mazes will include the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer, Universal Monsters and Scarecrow: The Reaping.

All four of the Horror Unleashed haunted mazes have made appearances during past Halloween Horror Nights events in Hollywood or Orlando. Horror Unleashed will build upon familiar scenes in each maze while adding new elements and scares.
Horror Unleashed will avoid the relentless congo lines and jump scares of Horror Nights mazes by pulsing through groups and allowing more time in each scene. The goal: Let visitors soak in the environments and get to know the world-building backstories and characters behind the scares.

Horror Unleashed visitors will be encouraged to interact with the “scareactors” by inquiring about their origin stories, personalities and relationships.
Horror Unleashed visitors will enter Warehouse 25 through a secret passageway that will take them into an abandoned movie and television production facility on the outskirts of Las Vegas filled with haunted set pieces, cursed film props and other mysterious paraphernalia from Universal’s legacy of horror.

An overarching story tying together all the mazes will involve an ever-present Shadow World that remains hidden from daily life. The thin veil between the real world and the Shadow World can be pierced only in weak spots of spiritually charged activity — like Warehouse 25.
A group known as Legendary Truth will guide Horror Unleashed visitors as they explore, study and attempt to contain the Shadow World inside Warehouse 25.
