Dodgers Name 2025 Heart & Hustle Award Winner

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that Andy Pages had been voted the team’s winner of the Heart & Hustle Award, an honor given annually by the MLB Players Alumni Association to the player who “best embodies the values, spirits and traditions of baseball” both on and off the field.

This marks the first time in his young MLB career that Pages has earned this distinction. The team-level award has been part of Dodger tradition since its inception in 2005, but no Dodgers player has ever claimed the overall Heart & Hustle Award.

What Sets Pages Apart: Passion, Hustle & Performance

The Heart & Hustle Award stands out because former players (not media or fans) select the nominees and winners, based on passion, desire, work ethic and baseball character shown on and off the field.

Pages earned recognition alongside prestigious Dodgers former winners like Teoscar Hernández (2024), Freddie Freeman (2023), Trea Turner (2022), Chris Taylor (2021) and Max Muncy (2019). That places him prominently within a lineage of high‑effort, respected clubhouse figures.

Page’s role has expanded rapidly. After unexpectedly stepping in as the Dodgers’ starting center fielder in 2024, he cemented his place in the lineup in 2025–demonstrating consistent effort, defensive effort, and team leadership.

Turning Point in April

While his 2025 campaign began unevenly, Pages rebounded strongly as the season progressed. Sources suggest he overcame early struggles by mentally separating different aspects of his game–enabling him to stay motivated through ups and downs.

By late April he earned National League Player of the Week honors (April 28, 2025) after dazzling streak: 13-for-20(.650 average) with 4 HRs and 6 RBI, including multiple extra-base hits against the Pirates.

In mid‑June, Pages had his first career multi-homer game, going 4-for-4 with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs in a wild 8‑6 win over San Diego, signaling his emergence as a consistent middle-of-the-order contributor.

Through July 28, Pages posted a .265 batting average with 32 home runs and 110 RBI in his MLB career. His 2025 season alone includes 19 HRs, 66 RBI, and a batting average around .275 with .777 OPS over approximately 408 at‑bats.

Defensively, he’s logged significant innings in center field while showcasing his hustle on routes and relays—traits deeply aligned with the Heart & Hustle ethos.

What Dodgers Fans Are Saying About Pages

From skepticism to full-throated support, Dodger fans have had a dynamic journey with Pages. Early in the season, criticism ran high over his defensive errors and slow start. As one fan acknowledged:

“Yall forgot about Pages goin yard against the Mets then stuntin on Alvarez.”

That vocal doubt has largely given way to praise. Multiple posts feature fans saying they “totally misjudged Andy Pages” and were surprised by how quickly he flipped the script as a key run producer.

One notable fan sentiment after last year’s NLCS summed it up:

“Game 5 … ‘At least Andy showed up’ … I was confused … I thought this guy is going to be our best cheap player … what is wrong with you.”

Pages’ fiery attitude hasn’t gone unnoticed either–especially after he glared at opposing pitchers following tough hit-by-pitches or contested calls. One fan described it as:

“Pages looks like a menace … he’s got them Michael Shannon Zod vibes … terrifying.”
