CMT Music Award Winner Looks to Fire Up Titans Ahead of Preseason Opener

The Tennessee Titans brought in a special guest to speak the team ahead of their preseason opener. This CMT Music Award winner was recently featured on WWE Summerslam, making his professional wrestling debut.

Regardless of how much time he spent in Florida training, Tennessee will always be home to the 40-year-old. He had the chance to speak with the Titans prior to the 2024 season, with the team bringing him back this year.

Jelly Roll Prepares the Titans For Their First Two Preseason Games on the Road

Road life is something that musicians know a thing or two about. As part of Post Malones tour, Jelly Roll has had his work cut out for him. Time at home is limited, which is something he highlighted in his speech to the team.

The country music sensation pointed out that the team would be leaving for 10 days. It all begins with their preseason opener in Tampa on Saturday, August 9. From there, they head to Atlanta for a showdown on Friday, August 15.

“I spend about 300 days a year not here,” Jelly Roll said. “I learned early, that’s where the magic was. See, what was happening on the road, between me and the boys, it started translating to the stage.”

“All that connection we were looking for on the stage that we couldn’t find, it’s because we were only trying to find it in that hour. We thought we were going to connect for those 60-90 minutes and we were going to change the world,” he added.

Jelly Roll continued, “We learned that it was the 23 hours that we weren’t on the stage that built our connection. Finding a partner, finding a friend, building relationship, building community, that stuff will transfer to the field.”

Cam Ward Highlighted as Culture-Changing QB

As the CMT Music Award Winner continued his speech, he began to pinpoint specific players on the team. Showing his Titans fandom, Jelly Roll picked on a few players, but one stood out in particular.

“I started watching Cam wake up at four o’clock in the morning. I started hearing him talk about his daddy waking up at four for a job he hated. There’s a culture being built, I feel it,” Jelly Roll said.

Cam Ward was selected No. 1 overall in the 2025 draft. Knowing the Will Levis experiment was a failure, the team quickly pivoted to the next best available QB. Now, the team lies on Ward’s shoulders as Levis will be missing the entire season.

While the Titans lack a veteran presence in their QB room, Ward has already showed signs of leadership. To be called out by Jelly Roll proves just how much of an impact he’s made in his short time on the team. Whether the musician was told to say that or not, it’s a huge mental boost for the Miami graduate moving forward.

Brian Callahan’s team got chippy in a joint training camp with the Buccaneers ahead of their game on Saturday. He’s been less than pleased with the offense, one he’ll have a chance to watch take the field at Raymond James Stadium.
