80s Icon Seen Looking So Different Today, But Still a Beauty

Jami Gertz

The 1980s were a heyday for many iconic actresses, including the beloved star of “The Lost Boys,” Jami Gertz. While she was well-known for her thick curly hair and stunning features as a young actress, Gertz has recently been seen looking completely different. In photos Dail Mail shared, the star is equally stunning at nearly 60 years old, but has made some changes to her style.

In these recent snaps, she wears her hair much straighter than she did in the 1980s and has opted for large, dark-framed glasses. She also chose a fun, quirky suit for the event, a much more mature look than she often sported in her early film roles. Not only has Gertz grown up in terms of fashion, but she has expanded her empire beyond the world of Hollywood.

Gertz Stunned Fans With Memorable Performances in the ’80s and ’90s

“The Lost Boys” is truly iconic, and Gertz’s performance in the 1987 film is one of her most memorable roles from the decade. The actress shone brightly as Star, a supporting character who often stole the show due to her beauty. She lures protagonist Michael Emerson (played by co-star Jason Patric) into the vampire world and is integral to the movie’s plot.

Of course, this is just one of many memorable films Gertz starred in during the ’80s and ’90s. She also played Robin in “Sixteen Candles” in 1984, and many other supporting roles. Another of her most memorable characters is Terri, a cyclist in 1986’s “Quicksilver.”

Gertz also made a wide variety of television appearances, and still occasionally appears on screen today. However, acting has largely taken a backseat to other professional pursuits over the years.

The Actress is Now a Multi-Billionaire

These days, fans are more likely to see Gertz at a basketball game than on a film set. As of August 2025, Celebrity Net Worth reports that the actress has amassed a $12 billion fortune. She has made most of her money outside the acting world. Along with her husband, Tony Ressler, Gertz partially owns the Atlanta Hawks, an NBA team. She and Ressler also have a small stake in an MLB team, the Milwaulkee Brewers.

It’s easy to assume Gertz built her wealth via marriage alone, but as she explained to Daily Mail, that isn’t the case. Instead, the two built their fortune together. In fact, the distribution of income was very different in the early days of their marriage. “I made way more money than Tony when we met,” she said. “I paid for our first house. I paid for our first vacation. I married him because I fell in love with him.” The two have been going strong since 1989.
