Two 16-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of stealing tens of thousands of dollars of the highly sought-after Labubu dolls from the Chino warehouse they worked at, police said.
Officers had responded to a burglary at USE Logistics at 15097 Van Vliet Ave. in Chino on Aug. 4, Chino police said. They determined the boys, who worked there, had set aside boxes full of Labubu dolls several days earlier.
The boys, police said, returned to the warehouse at least a couple of times from Aug. 1 and Aug. 3 after business hours to get the dolls.
The business estimated $40,000 in merchandise was taken.
The suspects and their vehicles were identified from the business’ security-camera footage, police said.
On Friday, Aug. 8, detectives served a search warrant at an Upland home connected to one of the boys, who tried to flee. About $30,000 in Labubu dolls were found there, police said.
The other boy was arrested in Ontario on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Both suspects were booked on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary, according to officials, with the found Labubu dolls returned to their owners.
It is unclear what occurred to the other $10,000 in dolls.
