Uncertainty Clouds Dolphins’ 2025 Season, ESPN Analyst Says

The Miami Dolphins continue to be one of the most interesting teams heading into the 2025 season.

They have speed, a returning quarterback and a coaching staff who look to be all in on the season.

However, with what the Dolphins have been putting together, questions still linger.

ESPN Analyst Peter Schrager spoke about the Dolphins in a recent interview, raising the most important questions of all.

What kind of Dolphins team will take the field when the games start to count?

Schrager sees two different types of paths for Miami this season.

One is filled with momentum, chemistry and an all-in mentality.

The other is plagued by questions that have surrounded the Dolphins throughout the offseason.

Either way, right or wrong, the Dolphins will find out who they are soon enough.

Dolphins Season In Limbo

Schrager didn’t mince words when assessing the current vibe surrounding the Dolphins.

“What the heck is the Miami Dolphins 2025 season going to look like?”

Schrager points out that it could go one of two ways.

With the trades and tribulations the Dolphins have gone through, it appears they are content with the current state of the roster.

Having parted ways with Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith and other veteran players.

The Dolphins look to be all in, having confidence in their team, weapons and coaching staff.

And as Schrager highlighted, “It could be lightning bolts.”

On the other hand, Schrager also pointed out the lingering skepticism.

The much-discussed Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill discourse has created less encouraging headlines.

Moreover, the continued sense of cracks that linger between Tyreek Hill and HC Mike McDaniel.

“None of it seems great coming out of Miami right now,” said Schrager.

Adding to the uncertainty, the Dolphins had a recent joint practice with the Detroit Lions.

The Dolphins appeared to have struggled in many areas during that practice.

And while bad practices shouldn’t sound the alarm bells, it will add fuel to the questions surrounding the Dolphins.

The contrast is striking for this Dolphins team.

They could come out striking fast, or the cracks that Schrager highlighted, could widen into bigger problems.

Regular Season Will Tell Real Story

For all the speculation, Schrager did end his comments on one point.

It’s too early to really know.

“I have been doing this long enough where you wait for the regular season.”

Once the Dolphins take the field in week one against the Indianapolis Colts, that’s when the questions will find their answers.

And it is worth noting that Miami has lived in this space before.

The constant divide of potential and uncertainty.

A big difference coming into this season is that the AFC is stacked.

The margin of error is razor-thin for a Dolphins squad who need to find their footing quickly and often.

If the Dolphins stumble early, the noise Schrager alluded to will get louder. But if they come out firing, the narrative surrounding Miami and their future could be flipped.

The Dolphins 2025 season won’t be defined by what happens in August.

It won’t be decided by rough joint practices, increasing tense storylines or the skepticism surrounding the health of a quarterback.

It will be decided when games start to matter.

Schrager summed it up best:

“This could be the same team that put up 70 points two years ago on the Broncos defense, or it could be a great disappointment.”
