‘One of a kind’ mother dies after being found unconscious in alleyway by school

A man has been charged with murder after a ‘much-loved’ mother was found dead with head injuries near to a primary school.

Paris Kendall, 36, was discovered on Keighley Road in Halifax shortly before 1.33pm. Officers pronounced her dead at the scene.

Her family released a picture of her alongside a tribute to their ‘much-loved mother, daughter and member of our family’.

They added: ‘We have been left absolutely devastated by her loss. 

‘We want to thank all those who have paid such kind tributes to Paris, as they are a source of comfort at what is an awful time.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body of a woman on Keighley Road, Illingworth on Wednesday 13 August. Police were called by the ambulance service to the location at 1.33pm to reports a woman had been found unconscious with serious head injuries. The victim, who is a 36-year-old local woman, was pronounced to have died from her injuries at the scene. Following enquires, officers arrested a 40-year-old man from an address in Halifax. He continues to be questioned on suspicion of murder. ‘No words at all, my beautiful big cousin, you did not deserve this. Rest in peace.’

A man has been being charged with the murder of a woman in Illingworth. Lee Taylor, aged 40, of Wellington Place in Halifax, will appear before Leeds Magistrates Court today (Saturday) charged with the murder of a woman, who can now be named as Paris Kendall, aged 36, from Halifax. Taylor, who defines himself as White British, was remanded in police custody to appear before court.

Officers have charged Lee Taylor, from Halifax, with Paris’ murder.

He was due to appear before Leeds Magistrates Court on Saturday.

Police have taped off a stretch of footpath near Moorside Primary School on Keighley Road.

DCI Tom Levitt, who is leading the case, said earlier: ‘Clearly any such incident will cause shock in communities and officers from the Valley NPT are conducting reassurance patrols in the area today and speaking with community partners.

‘I can advise officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the case, and we continue to support the victim’s relatives.’
