The New York Giants crushed the New York Jets 31-12 in Week 2 of the preseason.
However, the Jets enjoyed a viral moment on social media. During the game, Giants rookie pass rusher Abdul Carter got chip-blocked by Jets tight end Stone Smartt, which sent him crashing down to the canvas.
As Carter attempted to get back up, Jets veteran offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor cleaned up by shoving him to the ground again. The moment went viral, garnering over 3.3 million views at the time of this article’s publication.
“might be the only highlight of the Jets all season⬇️ and we put BTA. weak [expletive] chip ate that mf like bbq,” Carter responded on X previously Twitter.

Top Social Media Reactions to Carter’s Bizarre Response
“If I was a Top 5 pick and got decleated by a backup TE the first thing I would NOT do is go on Twitter and gloat about a preseason win, cry that it was cheap, especially when my franchise hasn’t beaten that team in 14 years,” Jets content creator NYJ Matt responded.

“Abdul Carter really was laying on his [expletive] twice on the same play in the same exact position. He can talk [expletive] about the Jets it’s all fair game (and yes they “BTA”) but calling this a cheap shot and not just taking the L on the rep is crazy,” NYJ Matt added on social media.

ESPN radio host Jake Asman responded, “Both teams stink, bud.”
He included a graphic from SportsCenter that displayed the lack of success by the Jets and Giants over the last eight seasons.
Over that period, the Jets have a 41-91 record, a .311 winning percentage, ranking No. 31 in the NFL. Over that same period, the Giants boast a 40-91-1 record, a .307 winning percentage, and that ranks dead last in the NFL.

“‘Welcome to the NFL’ moments happen all the time to rookies. Smartt decleating Abdul Carter is a cool play for the Jets but that’s about it. Going to be forgotten the minute Week 1 kicks off. Carter’s reaction to the hit is…weird? Let’s go with weird,” beat reporter Nick Faria of Jets X-Factor said.
Smartt Breaks Silence on Viral Jets-Giants Play
“Jets TE Stone Smartt had the block of the night, decleating Giants top pick Abdul Carter,” ESPN’s Rich Cimini said.
“Smartt: ‘It was just a general chip play, helping the tackle. Shoot, I got a clean look on him and was able to take advantage of it … I got the best of him, obviously.’ He said teammates on the sideline told him that he ‘got him good,’ Cimini added.
