“Derry Girls” star Saoirse-Monica Jackson married DJ Denis Sulta last weekend in a lavish Celtic-inspired ceremony. The nuptials took place at Dromquinna Manor in County Kerry, Ireland with the celebrations lasting three days.
Jackson’s father walked her down the aisle to a cover the “Dreams” by The Cranberries performed by Biird, an Irish girl group. The song was special to Jackson as it was featured prominently in “Derry Girls.”
For her bridal look, Jackson told British Vogue she was going for a “Celtic warrior princess” vibe, which included hair extensions that she described as “sort of regal and pagan.” Her dress, a confection by designer Annie Ibiza, was inspired by Zendaya and accessorized with Celtic brooches and a reversible tartan corset.
Another ‘Derry Girls’ Star Served as a Bridesmaid

“Derry Girls,” set in the ’90s in Northern Ireland, premiered on Netflix in 2018 and ran for three seasons, winning over fans around the world. Along with Jackson, the show starred Louisa Harland, Siobhán McSweeney, Kathy Kiera Clarke, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, and “Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan.
The cast always seemed tight-knit, as evidenced by their fun appearance as contestants on a special holiday episode of “The Great British Bake Off” in 2020. But Jackson and O’Donnell, who played troublemaker Michelle Mallon on “Derry Girls,” are still super close, as O’Donnell served as one of Jackson’s bridesmaids in her wedding.
In 2022, Jackson and O’Donnell hinted that they might work together again in the future during an interview on Shane Todd’s “Tea With Me” podcast. âWeâre making stuff already,” O’Donnell shared. âWeâre not going to talk about any of that â¦We have a couple of things in the pipeline.â
Jackson Called Her Wedding ‘Something From a Movie’
After the couple exchanged their vows, they walked off to the tune of “Once in a Lifetime” by Talking Heads in a cloud of purple smoke, according to British Vogue. It’s clear Jackson and her new husband know how to throw a party, because the reception was just as wild.
Jackson’s dad came dressed as Darth Vader as part of a private joke, and Jackson made sure there was lots of music too. âI also organized for a singer to come out dressed as Elphaba from ‘Wicked,’” she shared as “Defying Gravity” is her husband’s favorite song. “It was just so ridiculous, but also so gorgeous,” she said.
Jackson was happy with the ceremony itself, complete with all the before and after celebrations, and it sounds like her guests had the best time. âEverybody said that the whole weekend was like something from a movie, and it really was,â she said, adding, âI want to do it again!â
