Bloody Mary haunted maze coming to Knott’s Scary Farm

Bloody Mary will pull anyone who says her name three times through a mirror and into her underworld realm in a new haunted maze coming to Knott’s Berry Farm during the 52nd Halloween season of the granddaddy of all haunted events.

Mary — The Haunting of Worth Home haunted maze will be part of Knott’s Scary Farm at the Buena Park theme park on 28 select nights from Sept. 18 through Nov. 1.

The new Knott’s Berry Farm maze is an original adaptation of the Bloody Mary urban myth told by children for generations, according to Knott’s Scary Farm creative designer Jon Asperin.

“We get a chance to reimagine the story and introduce it into our Scary Farm lore,” Asperin said during a media preview at the park.

The backstory for the maze follows the mournful tale of Mary Worth following the tragic death of her family. Mistaken as the murderer, Mary is stoned and buried alive in a shallow grave by the enraged townspeople. Aggrieved and pained, Mary returns from the grave to exact revenge on anyone who steps inside her family home.

Mary’s apparition can be summoned by anyone who turns out the lights and says “Bloody Mary” into a mirror three times. Mary pulls the summoner into the mirror and into her underworld realm.

“You cross over from the real world into the version of the house that she’s been trapped in for years,” Asperin said.

Today, the Worth family home has been turned into a group home for girls.

Scary Farm visitors will encounter the girls living in the home as well as their counselors, caretakers and caregivers as they pass through the kitchen, bedrooms, basement, backyard and greenhouse on Halloween night.

The maze gets increasingly gruesome the further you travel into its depths.

Summoners pulled through Mary’s shattered mirror are often skinned alive. Some of the “scareactors” in the Bloody Mary maze will be wearing those skins like clothing.

“There’s a ton of cool, unique characters that live in this world that the guests are going to get a chance to meet,” Asperin said.

Asperin previously worked on the Special Ops: Infected, Dark Ride and Bloodline 1842 mazes as well as the Gore-ing 20s scare zone.

Knott’s Scary Farm 2025 will feature 10 haunted mazes, five scare zones and three live shows.

The Bloody Mary maze will be joined by a second new maze called The Zoo where a military lab that has taken over an abandoned zoo has been conducting animal/human hybrid experiments in an attempt to create a mutant super soldier.

The returning Scary Farm mazes include Widows, Eight Fingers Nine: The Boogeyman, Chilling Chambers, Cinema Slasher, Room 13, The Grimoire, Mesmer: Sideshow of the Mind and Origins: The Curse of Calico.

The returning scare zones include Ghost Town Streets, Forsaken Lake, Gore-ing 20s, Carnevil and The Gauntlet.

The entertainment lineup includes “The Hanging: There’s a New Tariff in Town” comedy and stunt show in the Wagon Camp Theater, “Le Magnifique Carnaval du Grotesque” circus sideshow on the Calico Mine Stage and “Conjurers” magic show in the Bird Cage Theatre.
