Veteran Wide Receiver Urges San Francisco 49ers To Bring Him Back

In the past few days, wide receiver Willie Snead IV, an NFL veteran with over 3,400 yards and 16 touchdowns in his career, has been campaigning on X for the San Francisco 49ers to bring him back.

Snead IV has repeatedly shared the hashtag “#BringBackSneadIV” alongside the hashtag “#FTTB” while tagging @49ers.

“Ask anyone in that @49ers building about me & they will whole heartedly tell you how much love I got there…” Snead IV said in one post. “I’m a MF competitor. I came in this league the ugly way. I just wanna play football & win a MF Super Bowl!”

Snead IV has also reposted several pieces of content detailing the 49ers injury issues at wide receiver, further making his case that the 49ers could use him.

Snead IV’s Controversial First Tenure With San Francisco

Willie Snead IV previously spent two seasons, 2022 and 2023, with San Francisco. In those two seasons, he had two total catches for 14 yards.

After he was let go by the 49ers in 2024, Snead sounded off on the 49ers organization.

“All I want is to go back to a team that isn’t afraid to let guys compete for a roster spot. These last 3 years been nothing short of entitlement,” Snead IV wrote on X. The last three years he was referencing were all with San Francisco.

But when fans brought those comments back to light amidst Snead IV’s campaign to be re-signed by San Francisco, he just said that was his competitive nature coming out.

“When people don’t understand my competitiveness, they take it the wrong way,” Snead IV wrote.

Whatever issues Snead IV had with the 49ers, he has obviously gotten over them now.

An Offensive Lineman Is On A Similar X Quest

Former San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Jon Feliciano, who retired earlier in the 2025 offseason, has also been asking the 49ers to bring him back on X.

A fan asked if the Niners could unretire Feliciano on August 9, 2025.

“Tell John [Lynch] to call me,” Feliciano replied in a post on X

In another post on August 12, 2025, a fan asked if there was any update on the 49ers bringing back Feliciano.

“They got a lot more important things going on right now than to worry about me,” Feliciano wrote. “I’m guessing Once they get their final roster set/close to set, if they feel like they need me they’ll call.”

Could Snead IV Help San Francisco?

Snead IV’s glory days may seem long behind him on the surface.

In his first two full seasons with the New Orleans Saints in 2015 and 2016, Snead IV had 1,879 yards and 7 touchdowns in those two seasons. He did that despite making only 12 starts.

Snead IV was also a productive wideout for the Baltimore Ravens from 2018-2020. But since 2021, Snead has only 52 total NFL yards.

The 49ers are currently employing a reclamation project similar to Snead in Robbie Chosen, and they like what they’ve seen from him so far. Could they be persuaded to give Snead IV a shot?

He’s obviously hungry for it. So the next time they inevitably hold a wide receiver tryout, the 49ers should at least consider giving Snead IV a shot.
