Netflix star KJ Apa has cheekily quipped that actors on teen dramas ‘all have sex with each other’.
The 28-year-old actor, who is from New Zealand, rose to fame playing Archie Andrews in the teen drama Riverdale, which ran from 2017 until 2023.
He is now starring alongside Outer Banks’ Madelyn Cline, 27, in the romantic drama movie The Map That Leads to You.
However, when promoting the release, the pair offered an intimate insight to what happens between young actors on set when filming teen drama series’.
‘Yeah, there’s a lot of drama that comes on shows like that,’ he told Entertainment Weekly of the shows they got their starts on.

‘Not to say in like a gossipy kind of way, but it’s just part of the environment, I guess. Part of the deal.’

His co-star agreed, adding: ‘It’s like a family, you know what I mean? You spend so much time with [them].’
‘You can’t really ever ask for family, that’s the whole point. So, it really is like family, and of course, you spend that much time with people, and you love them, and …,’ she said, before he jumped in and made an interesting admission.
‘You hook up with them, people hook up with each other,’ he said.
Madelyn currently stars on Outer Banks and was previously in a relationship with her co-star Chase Stokes. Although they broke up in 2021, their characters Sarah and John B are together – and even expecting a baby in the lead-up to the fifth and final season.

Although KJ has never been romantically linked to any of his Riverdale co-stars, the publication reported that he ‘keeps doubling down on how teen TV co-stars have sex with each other’.
‘You have sex with them and stuff, and then things start happening. And then things get a little complicated, and then you’re on set, and now you’re fighting with them,’ he said.
‘You sort of just have sex with them, and then you just sort of see what happens. It’’s just part of the deal.’
As the pair ‘cracked up’, KJ then went a step further and revealed that he lost his virginity when working on Riverdale.
‘I was a virgin when I started on that show, too, for the first couple years. I was a proud Christian boy. I was.’

In an interview published by The Hollywood Reporter this week, KJ spoke about how he actually ‘never wanted to be an actor’ growing up.
But after being cast in a New Zealand soap opera when he was 16, he said ‘the rest was kind of history’.
He went on to explain that the fact he never dreamed of pursuing a career on screen helped him do well in Hollywood.
‘I think there was a level of just chillness to my attitude and going into things that meant that if I didn’t get something, I was never really that disappointed because I didn’t choose to do this anyway,’ he added.
