Rasmus Hojlund believes that he is a better striker than Manchester United’s £74m summer signing Benjamin Sesko, according to reports.
Napoli confirmed on deadline day that they had signed Hojlund on loan for the 2025-26 campaign, which is thought to include a £38m obligation to buy next summer if the Italian club quality for the Champions League.
Hojlund has endured two tough seasons at Old Trafford since his £72m arrival but he was keen to stay at United and fight for his place in the team.
However, Hojlund reluctantly accepted that his United career was over after being repeatedly left out of Ruben Amorim’s matchday squads.
According to The Athletic, Hojlund, who scored just four Premier League goals last season, has been left ‘heartbroken’ over his United exit.

The outlet adds that Hojlund ‘considers himself better’ than Sesko and had been hoping that his performances in training would convince Amorim into keeping him at Old Trafford.
But Hojlund’s wish was not granted and the Denmark international is now hoping to revive his career with Italian champions Napoli under the management of Antonio Conte.

Hojlund has played 95 games for United to date in all competitions since he joined the club from Atalanta in 2023.
Across those 95 appearances, the 22-year-old has scored 26 goals and registered six assists.
Sesko, meanwhile, is still waiting to score his first goal for the Red Devils after his summer arrival from RB Leipzig.

Sesko has played in all three of United’s Premier League games so far this term – although it should be noted he’s only featured for 80 minutes across those matches.
The Slovenian did play the full 90 minutes against League Two side Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup last week but the 22-year-old didn’t get on the scoresheet.
Sesko conjured up 39 goals and eight assists across 87 games for German side Leipzig before his switch to United this summer.
Meanwhile, United’s former first team coach Rene Meulensteen believes there are worrying similarities between Sesko and Hojlund.
‘Manchester United [signing] Sesko is basically exactly what they did with Hojlund,’ Meulensteen told Poker Strategy.
‘If you look at Hojlund, he joined Atalanta and performed well alongside the rest of the team and then joined United.
‘The same can be said for Sesko – the Bundesliga is a very different league to the Premier League, so he’ll need to adapt.
‘Has Sesko got potential? 100 per cent, but he’s still young and developing and he isn’t the finished article.’
