Danny Trejo Makes a Statement About the Hoax
It is unclear how the reports started, but one of Trejoâs former co-stars, John Leguizamo, reacted to the news and paid tribute to the actor. The actor shared a photo of Trejo, with whom he starred in “The Infiltrator,â that had the year of his birth listed as 1944 and the year of his death as 2025, TMZ reports.
Leguizamo wrote âr.i.p.â in the text over the image. The repost of the hoax by Leguizamo, who was tricked into believing it, added more weight to the rumors.
A rep for Trejo confirmed the reports about his death are a hoax, telling TMZ that he is âfine.â

In an Instagram post on September 7, the actor shared a message. “Thank you all for your concern, but I am very much alive. Someone is spreading fake news,â he wrote on the post. In the caption, he wrote he same message again, ensuring fans are aware that it is just a hoax.
Fans React With Love
Fans have reacted to Trejo’s post confirming he is not dead with an outpouring of love and their relief to hear he is well. âThank you, I knew you wouldn’t mess up my morning coffee. I even wrote a tribute. Im so happy your alive,â a comment reads. âTHANK GOD BRO we love you homie,â another person wrote.

Trejo is beloved for his tough-guy performances, and he has been typecast in Hollywood. This is something he addressed in an interview with The Talks. âLet me tell you this, Iâve done my share of studio films, some of them were multi-million dollar projects. I’ve done studio films where I’ve laid on the beach for a week because it was more expensive to send me home from Hawaii, so I just stayed there until my next job,â he shared.
He revealed how he had done smaller projects because he was passionate about them and they âare acts of love.â And of being typecast? Well, he doesnât care! âPeople would say I was getting typecast because I was always playing the mean guy, the bad guy, the robber, the Chicano guy with tattoos⦠I didnât care,â he said. âLook at me, I am the mean Chicano dude with tattoos!â
