LA Daily News Top 10 football rankings for Week 3

Week 2 was filled with interesting results and storylines that forge a nice primer for the Week 3 games. Valencia was stunned at home by Bishop Amat; Sierra Canyon earned a third straight shutout; Thousand Oaks edged Agoura; and Westlake remained unbeaten.

DAILY NEWS TOP 10 

1. Sierra Canyon (3-0): The Trailblazers beat Punahou of Hawaii 45-0, which marked the team’s third straight shutout of the season. Laird Finkel threw three TDs. Next: at Downey

2. Valencia (2-1): Despite a surprising 42-38 loss to Bishop Amat, the Vikings are still the second-best team in the area heading into the Week 3 games. Next: at Paraclete

3. Notre Dame (2-1): The Knights handled St. Francis 49-12 and are starting to look stronger after a narrow loss to 3-0 Downey in Week 0. Big test this week. Next: vs. Servite

4. Chaminade (1-2): The Eagles have dropped two straight, including a 46-3 loss to Servite on Friday. The team’s win over Oaks Christian has lost its luster after the Lions’ 1-2 start. Next: vs. Beaumont

5. Newbury Park (2-1): Newbury Park is 2-1 after its loss to Millikan was turned into a forfeit victory due to ineligible players competing for the Rams in Week 0. The Panthers fell to Pacifica/Oxnard 56-35 on Friday. Next: at St. Pius X-St. Matthias

6. Oaks Christian (1-2): The Lions got a much-needed win at Bakersfield Liberty 35-28. USC commit Deshonne Redeaux ran for 276 yards on 13 carries and four TDs. Next: vs. Santa Margarita

7. Westlake (3-0): Westlake remains unbeaten after topping Chatsworth 31-0. Next: vs. Channel Islands

8. Thousand Oaks (3-0): QB Jackson Tyler threw for 195 yards and three TDs in a 20-19 win over Agoura. Next: at West Ranch

9. Agoura (1-2): The Chargers fell to Thousand Oaks 20-19 despite 232 yards passing and two TD passes from Gavin Gray. Next: vs. Calabasas

10. Calabasas (2-0): The Coyotes are coming off a bye week. Next: at Agoura
