Still, he agreed to appear in it because he felt it was generally a good idea. While he doesn’t like revealing too much about himself, he said he wanted to be “honest” in the film.</p>
<p id=”par-3_83″>“I thought it was an interesting examination,” he told <a href=”https://www.gq.com/story/inside-ben-afflecks-plan-to-remake-hollywood” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>GQ</a> in 2025. “Like I mentioned to you before, there are a lot of people who I think have handled celebrity more adeptly and more adroitly than I have, Jennifer among them. My temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private than hers. As happens in relationships, you don’t always have the same attitude towards these things. And so I thought, Oh, this is interesting because how do you reconcile that?”</p>

I want people to see that,” he said. “And I think the thing that I said in that documentary or the piece that they used was where I said, You don’t marry a ship captain and then say, ‘Well, I don’t like going out in the water.’ You’ve got to own what you knew going into any relationship.”</p>

He noted that because she was providing a window into their relationship, the title of the film doesn’t make much sense.</p>
<p id=”par-7_39″>“I did really find the beauty and the poetry and the irony in the fact that it’s the greatest love story never told,” he said. “If you’re making a record about it, that seems kind of like telling it.”</p>
<p id=”par-8_22″>He said he had to work to get comfortable with putting so much of his personal life in front of the camera.</p>
<p id=”par-9_27″>“Things that are private I always felt are sacred and special <em>because</em>, in part, they’re private,” he said. “So this was something of an adjustment for me.”</p>
