Two men shot in Oakland, one left in critical condition

OAKLAND — Two men were shot Monday night and early Tuesday in different areas of the city, one at his apartment complex leaving him in critical condition, authorities said.

Police said the shootings are not connected.

The 56-year-old man left in critical condition was shot in the torso 9:15 p.m. Monday at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Third Avenue in the Eastlake district, authorities said.

Police said Initial reports were that there was a dispute involving several people that ended with shots being fired and the man being wounded.

What the dispute was about is under investigation.  No arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released.

The second shooting happened about 2:26 a.m. Tuesday outside in the  1100 block of 98th Avenue in East Oakland.

A 41-year-old man was shot but was able to run several blocks to the 9400 block of C Street where police and paramedics were called. He was in stable condition at a hospital.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation.  No arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released.
