The Golden State Warriors have been busy this offseason attempting to load up for one more championship run with legendary guard Stephen Curry at the helm. They still have moves to be made, with Jonathan Kuminga’s status as a restricted free agent being one of the top issues the team needs to resolve before the start of the new season.
During his time in the league, Curry has helped revolutionize the game of basketball with his propensity for taking and making an incredibly high volume of three-point shots. In recent years, there have been several complaints about the state of the NBA, but Curry recently issued an eye-opening admission on that topic that quickly caught the attention of fans.
Stephen Curry Dishes on the State of the NBA
Since getting selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, Curry has turned himself into one of the greatest players in the history of the league. During his career, he’s earned 11 All-Star and All-NBA selections apiece, while also winning two MVP Awards and leading the Warriors to four championships, solidifying their status as the league’s most recent dynasty.
Perhaps the most impressive piece of Curry’s game is the impact he’s had on basketball as a whole. When he entered the league, teams didn’t embrace three-point shooting like they do nowadays. That changed thanks to Curry, who led the league in three-point attempts and three-pointers made for five straight seasons from the 2012-13 campaign to the 2016-17 season.
Nowadays, three-pointers are a significant part of every team’s offensive game plan. Curry remains one of the most efficient shooters in the league, and even as he reaches the end of his career, that doesn’t appear set to change. While some fans have bemoaned the NBA becoming overly reliant on three-point shooting, Curry thinks that it has never featured more talent than it currently does.
“You want to leave the league in a better place than when you found it, and I think just the way that you see the skill level right now, the way that the range is kind of taking over and guys shooting threes all over the court,” Curry said on “The TODAY Show.” “From one through five and all the way down the roster, I think this is the most skilled era of basketball in history.”

The game of basketball has evolved constantly throughout the years. Curry’s barrage of three-point shooting was one of those evolutions, and we may be in the process of another one, with several teams looking for do-it-all big men who fit the mold of Denver Nuggets’ superstar center Nikola Jokic. Chances are, there will continue to be changes with each passing season.
Curry’s impact on the NBA and the game of basketball as a whole is already secure. Now, he’s trying to wrap up his career on a high note by leading the Warriors back to the top of the proverbial mountain by winning a championship. Even at 37 years old, Curry has shown no signs of slowing down yet, and as he’s proven time and again throughout his career, it’s not very smart to bet against him.
