Jerry Jones may wish Micah Parsons the best. But he can’t have liked hearing fans of the Green Bay Packers trolling him Thursday night.
Fans inside Lambeau Field chanted “Thank You Jerry,” referencing the Dallas Cowboys football czar, after Parsons authored another dominant performance in Green Bay’s 27-18 win over the Washington Commanders on Thursday in Green Bay.
Parsons, who of course was traded from Dallas to Green Bay for Kenny Clark and two first-round picks Aug. 28, had a half-sack, two tackles and three hits on Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels on Thursday.
The Packers have allowed just 31 points in their first two games and are 2-0 for the first time since 2020.
How Did Packers Fans Troll Jerry Jones?
Parsons’ impact on Green Bay’s defense has already been profound. The Packers have not trailed all season and have not yet allowed a touchdown outside of the fourth quarter in either of their first two games — over the Commanders and 2024 NFC top seeded Detroit Lions.
So Parsons was a guest on the “Thursday Night Football Postgame Show” on Prime Video after Green Bay’s second straight dominant win, which prompted the legions of Green Bay fans to chant “thank you Jerry!” while Parsons danced along.
Parsons then egged on the fans to keep the chant going, along with Prime analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick, surely further dismaying the Cowboys and their fans too.
Fans then serenaded Parsons with a “Micah!” chant, which he reveled at, and he threw some shade at the Cowboys — and its world-class home facility, AT&T Stadium, where he of course played his first four NFL seasons.
“Obviously, amazing fan base,” Parsons said. “The second thing is, really just how nice it is out here. The stadium, the facilities, obviously it’s top tier. It’s the best I’ve seen.”
What Did Micah Parsons Say About Being In Green Bay?
Parsons spoke fondly of his time in Dallas, even when pressed to by Fitzpatrick to describe the cultural differences between the Cowboys and Packers.
“I wouldn’t say the culture, because I was with a great group of guys [in Dallas]. I loved that locker room,” Parsons said. “I’m joining something that I’m already used to. Running to the ball, playing hard as hell. Coming into a culture where you don’t have to bring that and you’re not trying to change a culture is so much easier transition.”
But Parsons also felt the burden of his hold-in with the Cowboys, since he was participating in meetings and on the practice field and sidelines during preseason games, but was not suited up while trying to land a new contract.
But that’s all behind Parsons, who of course got a four-year, $186 million contract from Green Bay after the trade. So he also spoke about how free he feels being back on the football field in uniform and dominating at his position again.
“That’s the relief part: I’m finally able to be me,” Parsons said. “I’m just happy. I’m free. I can finally play. Y’all don’t understand just how happy I am to be playing football.”
