Eagle Get Bad News Ahead of Super Bowl Rematch

The Philadelphia Eagles have been through this with Dallas Goedert before — just never this early in the season.

After missing 7 games due to injuries in 2024, the veteran tight end is once again dealing with injury issues. He won’t play in a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, September 14, at Arrowhead Stadium due to a sprained knee.

“Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero wrote on September 12.

Goedert missed 7 games in 2024 with hamstring and knee injuries but returned for the postseason. He one of Philadelphia’s top offensive weapons with 17 receptions for 215 yards and one touchdown across 4 playoff games, including a 40-22 win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

In the Eagles’ 24-20 Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys, Goedert looked sharp with 7 receptions for 44 yards.

In Goedert’s place, the Eagles will turn to fourth year tight end Grant Calcaterra. In 2024, Calcaterra played in all 17 games with 13 starts to go with 24 receptions for 298 yards and 1 touchdown.
