Insider Leaks DK Metcalf’s Explicit Message on Seahawks Amid Steelers Loss

The Seattle Seahawks got the last laugh when it comes to facing former wide receiver DK Metcalf as the team cruised in the fourth quarter to a 31-17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Leading up to the game, Metcalf tried to maintain that the contest was just another week.

Privately, Metcalf revealed his true feelings about facing the Seahawks. During the Seahawks-Steelers matchup, Fox Sports’ sideline reporter Kristina Pink relayed a conversation she had with Metcalf.

The Steelers star receiver had some colorful language to describe his feelings about his former team.

“Yeah, let’s just say in talking to DK he used the phrase, uh, ‘forget them,’ but it was actually a little more colorful than that,” Pink detailed during the game’s TV broadcast on September 14.

“Words I can’t say on TV. So, as much as he wants to downplay it, he did say that there were no emotions. It’s a nameless opponent. But you see some of the chippiness out there. He’s certainly feeling a little something.”

Here’s what you need to know about the Seahawks’ victory over Metcalf and the Steelers.

DK Metcalf’s Stats vs. Seahawks: 3 Catches for 20 Yards & 1 TD

There was plenty of exchanges between Metcalf and Riq Woolen along with other Seahawks cornerbacks. Yet, it was a relatively quiet outing for Metcalf, aside from his touchdown reception in the second quarter.

Metcalf finished with three receptions for 20 yards and one touchdown against Seattle in Week 2. Pittsburgh needed a few more touchdowns to keep pace with Seattle after numerous errors in the fourth quarter.

“Y’all are going to make it a big deal,” Metcalf told the Associated Press during his weekly media availability prior to the game on September 11. “I’m not. … It’s just another football game.”

The Seahawks Dealt DK Metcalf to the Steelers After the Star Requested a Trade

It was not all hard feelings from Metcalf towards his former team. Prior to the game, Metcalf was spotted greeting several of the Seahawks coaches.

It is worth noting that Metcalf requested a trade which led to Seattle’s deal with Pittsburgh. During an interview on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Seahawks general manager John Schneider detailed the team’s decision to trade Metcalf.

“DK and I had very open conversations the last couple years about his future, and what that looked like and what he wanted,” Schneider noted, per Yahoo Sports. “We always have to do what’s best for the organization, first and foremost.

“It was apparent that he wanted to move on, and so, when we got back from the Combine, we had some real, clear, direct conversations. And at that point, we decided it was probably best for both of us to move forward.”

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba Has Shined in DK Metcalf’s Absence

One playmaker who has benefitted from Metcalf’s departure is Seahawks wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The receiver posted eight catches for 103 yards against the Steelers in Week 2.

Smith-Njigba has had back-to-back weeks topping 100 receiving yards to start the season. Through the first two games, the wide receiver has 17 catches for 227 yards but is still searching for his first touchdown of 2025.
