RICHMOND — Multiple shooters ambushed a 28-year-old man Friday night, killing him in the street as Richmond recorded its second homicide of the year, according to police.
The shooters, whom police had not identified as of Saturday afternoon, shot and killed a man named Jerry Williams, according to authorities.
Williams was reportedly walking on Lincoln Avenue when a vehicle approached him and several suspects got out of the car and opened fire at him. At least two dozen shots triggered a ShotSpotter gunshot detector around 8:43 p.m. Friday near 8th Street and Lincoln Avenue, according to authorities.
Williams reportedly ran north through Triangle Court and collapsed in the 800 block of Lincoln Avenue. Police said responding officers said they found Williams suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene, police said.
Police said no arrests had been made in the shooting.
In July, the city saw its first homicide of 2025 after police found a man shot dead in the 900 block of 9th Street.
Anyone with information regarding Friday night’s shooting is asked to contact Detective J. Guzman at 510-210-2273.
