A Yo Gabba Gabba! gallery is coming to the Brea Civic & Cultural Center in October

The popular children’s TV show “Yo Gabba Gabba!” is getting a behind-the-scenes look at the magic of the show where it all began.

The Brea Civic & Cultural Center, located at 1 Civic Center Circle, Brea, will showcase “Yo Gabba Gabba!: The Super Art Friends Show” from October 18 to December 12.

The gallery show will celebrate the beloved cultural phenomenon that began its journey in Brea 20 years ago, developed by two Orange County fathers, Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz. They produced a pilot in 1999, which ultimately caught the attention of Nickelodeon executives after circulating online.

The unique exhibition will feature 80 local pop and surreal artists, who will showcase never-before-seen artworks that aim to evoke nostalgia from the show’s early days. It will also serve as an opportunity to toast the artistry that was sparked in the Brea community, and honor the show’s origins and mission to encourage children to explore their creativity, be kind and have fun.

A complete list of participating artists and tickets for the opening reception and the shows are available via breaartgallery.com.

Earlier this year, Yo Gabba Gabba! performed at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival for two weekend shows with collaborations with “Weird Al” Yankovic, Flavor Flav, Portugal, The Man, Paul Williams, Thundercat, a complete chorus of iconic children’s mascots, and the show’s original host, DJ Lance Rock. Late last year, Yo Gabba Gabba! also performed at the NPR Tiny Desk, which also featured Thundercat.

The news of the upcoming gallery comes after the group wrapped a nationwide tour with Kammy Kam, host of the new Apple TV+ series, “Yo Gabba GabbaLand!” along with beloved Gabba characters Brobee, Foofa, Muno, Toodee, and Plex. It also follows the recent news from Apple TV+ that the reimagined original kids’ and family series will return for season two on Friday, Jan. 30. All four seasons of the original beloved, Emmy Award-nominated series “Yo Gabba Gabba!” are also now available on their platform.
