Rams Sack Leader Predicted To Earn Career First Achievement

The Los Angeles Rams’ defensive line is one of the best in the league.

EDGE rusher Byron Young, a first-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

Braden Fiske, a second-round selection in the same draft, finished third in the DROY voting after recording 8.5 sacks. Defensive tackle Kobie Turner logged 8 sacks in his second season in the league.

Pass Rusher Byron Young logged 15.5 sacks in his first two seasons in the league and is off to a hot start for the Rams in the 2025 NFL season. The former Tennessee Volunteer has recorded four sacks in three games this season, already at his career high of eight sacks in his rookie year.

Rams’ head coach Sean McVay praised his EDGE rusher after the Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans, saying Young has taken his game to the next level.

One NFL writer believes that if Young continues his performances, he could earn his first major achievement.

Byron Young Pro Bowler?

Byron Young is tied for the second-most sacks in the league with 4, contributing one-third of the Rams’ sacks this season.

The pass rusher is well on his way to getting his first double-digit sack season if he continues taking down opposing teams’ quarterbacks.

FanSided’s Nick Villano predicts that Young could achieve his first Pro Bowl nod this season after three weeks.

“We were amazed that pass rusher Byron Young didn’t make the Pro Bowl. He’s been really good, but his sack numbers probably didn’t get high enough. His rookie year, he had eight sacks, and he dropped to 7 ½ sacks last season. This year, he already has four sacks in three games,” Villano wrote.

“Young’s sacks have caused quarterbacks to lose 34 yards. He also has six tackles for loss. Young is dominating on the defensive line… Young was probably the Rams’ best defensive player against the defending champion Eagles. This is a good team that could win the NFC West, and Young might usurp Jared Verse as the team’s defensive leader. Young has all the tools, and they are finally turning into statistics.”

Getting To The Pro Bowl

Byron Young is only half a sack behind from being tied with the sack leader Rashan Gary of the Green Bay Packers.

ESPN ranked the Los Angeles Rams the 17th hardest strength of schedule in the league. If Young were to continue averaging 4 sacks per three games, he would be well on his way to 20+ sacks on the season.

The Week 4 matchup against the undefeated Indianapolis Colts will have the Rams’ D-line go up against one of the better offensive lines in the week.

If Young can log one sack on Sunday, he would make a big step toward getting his first career Pro Bowl.
