As the crème de la crème of Hollywood celebrated Selena Gomez’s wedding, there was one couple notably missing from the festivities.
Despite their well-documented friendship, Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham were not spotted at the 33-year-old star’s star-studded Californian bash, where she tied the knot with music producer Benny Blanco.
The stacked 170-strong guest list boasted everyone from music titans like Ed Sheeran and bestie Taylor Swift to her Only Murders in the Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short.
Yet, Nicola and Brooklyn’s absence has come as a surprise, considering how close the three of them used to be.
Addressing Nicola and Brooklyn’s no-show at Selena’s big day, a source said there was no drama,
‘Nicola is in strict preparation for a new role, and was unavailable. She and Brooklyn wish Selena and Benny all the best,’ they claimed to the Daily Mail. In July, it was announced Nicola would star in a gritty new thriller, Pretty Ugly.
The trio hard-launched their friendship at the end of 2022 after meeting in October at the Academy Museum Gala, when they rang in the new year together in Los Cabos – sharing a series a pictures.
One of them included all three of them snuggled up together on a boat with the caption: ‘Fine calls us a throuple #foreverplusone’.
Their appearances together have lessened in recent months, with Selena and Benny also not attending the couple’s intimate vow renewal, which took place in August.
Although a source for The Sun had claimed that Selena and Nicola ‘don’t even talk any more’, believing her behaviour to be ‘attention-seeking’, another insider has pushed back against this.
Discussing the vow renewal, a source told the Daily Mail at the time: ‘Selena and Benny have not had any falling out with Nicola or Brooklyn,’ the insider told the Daily Mail.
‘They are still friends. When it comes to their vow renewal, [Selena] can celebrate them privately. She feels she doesn’t have to legitimise her friendships with anyone through an online post or comment.’
The most recent social media snap they have together is the US model with the Disney star at Benny’s birthday in March 2024.
What’s more, unlike at the start of their budding friendship when the pair were championing each other online – whether through likes or comments – none of them has interacted with each other’s posts in months.
For her big day, Selena wore a high-neck, Ralph Lauren gown with her now-husband gushing he ‘married a real life disney princess’ while Selena said right back to him: ‘I love you soooo much.’
Elsewhere, fans were convinced that her ex Justin Bieber’s mum, Pattie Mallette, was sending a cryptic nod to the wedding on Instagram after posting several black and white pictures, including one of the star wearing a t-shirt with the words ‘pray for me.’
As for Brooklyn and Nicola, as well as navigating the highs and lows of their celebrity friendships, they also remain estranged from the rest of the Beckhams.
It’s been months since a mystery feud seemed to split the beloved British family in two, with Victoria reportedly having had enough of their rift.
A source told The Mirror: ‘Enough is enough. It was very much a roller coaster of emotions because of the big thing that’s still affecting her, her fractured relationship with Brooklyn.
‘But it also made her realise that she can’t keep raking over the heartbreak of this situation with him, enough is enough, now.’
Time will tell whether Victoria will divulge more details in her upcoming Netflix documentary.
