Keith Urban recently decided to swap out lyrics from a song long tied to his romance with Nicole Kidman â and replaced them with a shout-out to rising country star Maggie Baugh.
The move comes days before Kidman officially filed for divorce after 19 years of marriage.
During a performance of âThe Fighter,â a track originally understood to reflect the early days of his relationship with Kidman, Urban altered a key line.
Rather than singing, âWhen theyâre tryna get to you, baby Iâll be the fighter,â he instead sang, âWhen theyâre tryna get to you, Maggie, Iâll be your guitar player.â
The change was captured in a video shared by Baugh on Saturday, September 27. She caption the post, âDid he just say thatðâ
The timing of the lyric tweak only added fuel to the chatter, as Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on Tuesday, Septmber 30.
Fans React
Fans had mixed reactions to the now-viral clip.
Some observers interpret Urbanâs alteration as an overt signal of shifting loyalties â perhaps even hinting at a romantic alignment with Baugh.
Yet others view the lyric change as less dramatic. Some fans believe itâs an innocent artistic flourish.
âI think he really loves having you on stage with him, Maggie. Keith recognizes talent when he sees and hears it,â one user wrote.
Another added that the two were clearly having a good time performing together. âAwwww he definitely loves having you on stage with him!â another added.
Urban has not publicly explained the change or addressed its implications.
Nicole Kidman Files for Divorce
Nicole Kidman has officially filed for divorce from Keith Urban, ending their 19-year marriage.
In court documents filed in Nashville on September 30, 2025, Kidman, 58, cited âirreconcilable differencesâ as the reason for the split.
The couple shares two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
Sources close to Kidman stated she had been trying to salvage the marriage even as the pair drifted apart.
Insiders say their living arrangements had changed months earlier, with Kidman and Urban living separately over the summer.
Kidman is leaning heavily on her family for support during this emotional time. TMZ reported that the two already have a parenting plan outlined for their two children.
The divorce filing comes just as Urban was on tour. A source told PEOPLE that Kidman was “inseparable” from her daughters over the summer.
At this stage, neither party has publicly commented on the developments.
