The Miami Dolphins earned their first win of the 2025 campaign with a 27-21 victory over the New York Jets on Monday Night Football in Week 4, but it came at a cost. In the third quarter, star wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a serious knee injury that forced him out of the game, and it was revealed shortly after that it would end his season.
As if the Dolphins needed any more issues to deal with on offense, they will now have to make it through the remainder of the year without their top pass catcher. Hill, meanwhile, is already focused on getting himself back on the field for next season, and he shared an update on his status after he underwent surgery on Tuesday.
Tyreek Hill Provides Update After Serious Knee Injury
In the third quarter on Monday night, Hill caught a 10-yard pass from Tua Tagovailoa along the sideline. As he was tackled, his left leg twisted underneath him, and it quickly became clear that Hill had suffered a serious injury. His leg was put in an air cast, which is never a good sign, and he was promptly taken off the field in a cart.
For those who had the misfortune of watching Hill’s injury in real time, it was obvious from the get-go that his season was over. Hill ended up being diagnosed with a dislocated knee and several torn ligaments, including his ACL. As a result, Hill is staring down the barrel of a lengthy injury rehab process that has even thrown his status for the 2026 season in doubt.
Hill and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, have remained adamant that he will play next season, but getting back on the field in due time is obviously going to be easier said than done. Despite the severity of the injury, Hill has been in good spirits in the wake of the development, and he shared an encouraging update with fans on social media on Wednesday.
“Surgery went great. 🙏🏿 Romans 8:18, ‘For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us,’” Hill wrote in a post on X
Dolphins Set to Move Forward Without Tyreek Hill

Miami’s offense was struggling even when Hill was on the field, so losing him is a massive blow for them moving forward. Jaylen Waddle will have to step up and be the team’s No. 1 wide receiver, with Malik Washington and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine set to take on bigger roles behind him. Running back De’Von Achane and tight end Darren Waller also figure to see more in the passing game, with Achane also leading the team’s rushing attack.
What the future holds for Hill is unknown, but for now, all the team can worry about is the remainder of the season while he works on getting healthy. With that in mind, Miami will turn its attention to its Week 5 contest against the Carolina Panthers. Even without Hill, the Dolphins should have a decent shot at earning their second straight win when they take the field next. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
