One of the Met Police officers caught making racist comments to an undercover reporter joked ‘God, we’d so lose our jobs right now’ if bosses ever got wind of them.

While drinking at a pub off-duty, PC Phil Neilson initially appears wary of Rory Bibb, a journalist posing as an officer as part of a Panorama investigation into the force.

Half-joking, he says of the idea to meet up: ‘This is a sting. This is DPS (Directorate of Professional Standards). This is DPS trying to catch me out or something.

‘I was literally thinking I ain’t gonna come cos I can’t get in contact with him, it could be a sting.’

Rory is then shown discussing the incident back where he is staying, saying PC Neilson kept pressing him on whether he was wearing a wire, and remarking that he felt as tough the officer was close to leaning across the table and ‘patting me down’.

During their chat, captured on hidden cameras, PC Neilson tells the reporter: ‘The Somalians are scum, the Somalians they’re f—— ugly. Any foreign person is the worst to deal with…It’s an invasion.

‘I’ve seen too many Islamics committing crimes. Their way of life is not the correct way of life. You do find that the ones causing the most crime are the Muslims. They cause the most crime.’

Asked what should happen to one suspect: ‘Either put a bullet through his head or deport him.

‘And the ones that shag women, rape women, you do the cock and let them bleed out.’

While referring to there being an invasion of the UK by migrants, the officer adds: ‘God, we’d so lose our jobs right now.’

PC Neilson – ironically sitting under a neon sign reading ‘BAD DECISIONS’ – also tells the undercover reporter about tormenting a 17-year-old autistic suspect by pushing on pressure points on his body while in a police van.

When the journalist asks how he did it, the PC can be seen mockingly looking around and asking again about ‘wires’.

He later advises Bibb to watch who he shares certain views with, saying: ‘Know your crowd.

‘So, like, I would say I feel comfortable with you that I can say some stuff that are a bit out there. And I will trust you not to go and be like “Oi, this guy Phil, yeah”.’

The Prime Minister has described the behaviour of Metropolitan Police officers who were secretly filmed making racist and sexist comments as ‘shocking’.

Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said people in London can trust the ‘vast majority’ of the force’s officers, adding he was ‘horrified’ by the documentary.

He told LBC on Thursday: ‘We completely get that you’re going to be upset and angry when you watch this, and it’s going to cause you to question your trust in the Metropolitan Police.

‘You can be rest assured that we are relentless in rooting out these characters.

‘You can trust the vast majority of great men and women who are out there to protect you and serve.

‘It’s those men and women who are building more trust and more confidence from the people of London, and we will continue doing that because we’re all equally passionate about our vocation, and we’re all as horrified as you are as a member of the public by what we saw last night.’

Nine serving and one former officer, and one designated detention officer who is a civilian member of staff, are all under investigation for gross misconduct by watchdog the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Allegations include excessive use of force, making discriminatory and misogynistic comments, and failing to report or challenge inappropriate behaviour.

One constable is facing a criminal investigation for allegedly perverting the course of justice.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the footage was ‘disturbing’ and ‘sickening’ – adding that she expects police chiefs to use their powers to sack anyone guilty of gross misconduct.
