Tim Sherwood says Marcus Rashford looked ‘bang average’ in Barcelona’s 2-1 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Rashford has shined since joining the La Liga side on loan from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The England international has conjured up five assists and two goals across his first nine appearances for the Catalan club.
Rashford provided the assist for Ferran Torres’ goal against PSG on Wednesday before the European champions secured a comeback win.
But Sherwood was critical of Rashford during the game, claiming he was ‘bang average’ in comparison to his Barcelona teammate Lamine Yamal.

‘He’s (Rashford) done OK,’ Sherwood told Sky Sports. ‘It suits him better when they had more control and they’re getting the ball out to him.
‘But it’s unfair for him because Lamine Yamal gets it on the right hand side, does a lot of pirouettes, the crowd is up, he has shots at goal and they drop off him.

‘When it goes out to the left to Marcus, he is one dimensional, we know what Marcus is and he’s very effective when he does it.
‘He knocks it, he runs past people and when he doesn’t the crowd think, ‘why don’t you give us the same as the genius on the other side?’
‘It’s harsh on him (Rashford) I know, but it’s a very difficult environment for him to play in.

‘Marcus Rashford will develop if he wants to and get better playing in this Barcelona side. He has to get better.’
Sherwood added: ‘At the moment, he looks bang average because the kid on the other side is so good.’
Rashford hit the headlines last month for being late to a Barcelona team meeting, which saw him dropped from the XI for a La Liga clash against Getafe.
That saw the 27-year-old slammed by United legend Paul Scholes, who said: ‘I really struggle to feel happy for Marcus Rashford.
‘Mainly because of his attitude. His attitude towards Man United towards the end was disgraceful.
‘The amount of times I saw him walking because he wanted to leave… His whole demeanour about him was a disgrace. I think he quit on Man Utd. When you quit once, you’ll quit again. He was late [again for Barcelona].
‘He wont get away with that for long at Barca. There’s absolutely no chance. How can you sleep in these days? Your phone, f*****g alarm, whatever. How can you sleep in?
‘He’s definitely got the talent to be [one of the best players in the world]. But he’ll never have the mentality.’
