If the Los Angeles Rams needed any more proof that their situation at cornerback remained unsettled, and potentially ripe for a trade to address it, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne’s 10-reception, 142-yard performance was it.
The Rams could find an amenable target in the AFC, and specifically the Tennessee Titans.
Titans cornerback L’Jarius Sneed could make for a fine target if the Rams are willing to commit to such a move.
Rams Pushed to Make Trade for Titans CB L’Jarius Sneed

Entering Week 5, the Rams ranked 10th in scoring defense, ninth overall, and ninth against the pass. This is despite being without starting cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon and relying on the likes of 2021 Super Bowl champion Darious Williams, Cobie Durant, and Emmanuel Forbes.
Opposing offenses were completing 66.4% of their passes against the Rams, tied for the 11th-most in the league through four weeks.
Sports Illustrated’s Matt Verderame and Gilberto Manzano suggested the Sneed trade.
Rams get:
- L’Jarius Sneed
Titans get:
- Conditional third-round draft pick
“The Rams might be a cornerback away from becoming real threats to the Eagles and Lions in the NFC. This secondary got exposed by Jalen Hurts in Week 3, and the weapons in Detroit could do the same,” Manzano and Verderame wrote on October 1.
“Now, Sneed might no longer be as good as he was in Kansas City, but it’s worth the hassle for the Rams to find out whether he can regain his top form. Sneed is only 28, and there’s a potential out on his contract next year in case it doesn’t work out in Los Angeles. But with better support than what he has had in Tennessee, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Sneed have a career revival with a team as good as the Rams.”
Sneed was a fourth-round draft pick (No. 138 overall) of the 2020 draft by the Chiefs, where he won two Super Bowls.
Sneed signed a four-year, $76.4 million extension with Tennessee after KC traded him in 2024.
L’Jarius Sneed Could Address Rams’ Biggest Need

GettyL’Jarius Sneed #38 of the Kansas City Chiefs warms up before Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers.
Sneed would be an intriguing trade target for the Rams. He battled injuries in a truncated 2024 season, but he is allowing below 60% completion in his coverage for a third straight season in 2025.
He has 10 interceptions, 6.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 3 recoveries in his career. However, he has not recorded any of those counting stats in at least two years.
Still, he could address the Rams’ “biggest need” before the trade deadline.
“Losing Ahkello Witherspoon to a broken clavicle in Week 2 put the Rams‘ secondary in a bind. Former Washington Commanders castoff Emmanuel Forbes has played a lot of snaps, and has been picked on,” NFL.com’s Kevin Patra wrote on October 1. “How long can Los Angeles withstand having a weak link like that on defense, which opponents are sure to target relentlessly?”
A trade for Sneed could make opposing QBs more hesitant about attacking his side of the field, allowing the Rams to get more creative with their coverages and blitz schemes. The 2025 trade deadline is November 4, between the Texans’ tilts against the New Orleans Saints and 49ers.
