Gary Neville claims Liverpool star was ‘annoying’ Arne Slot with display against Chelsea

Gary Neville believes Ibrahima Konate’s performance against Chelsea ‘annoyed’ Liverpool manager Arne Slot who hauled off the centre-half early in the second-half.
After an unconvincing display from his side, Slot has seen enough and made two changes 10 minutes into the second-half with Milos Kerkez, run ragged in the first-half, replaced by Andy Robertson.
Konate was also brought off with Curtis Jones brought onto replace him. Ryan Gravenberch was moved back into defence alongside countryman van Dijk with Jones taking up his role in midfield.
Reacting to the decision to withdraw Konate, Neville accused the Frenchman of ‘walking with the ball’ when he should have been looking to move it up the pitch quicker.

The former Manchester United captain added the performance was starting to ‘annoy’ him – along with his manager.
‘If you watch Konate on the ball at the start of the second half, he was just walking with it,’ Neville said while on commentary duty for Sky Sports.

‘It was frustrating and annoying me to be honest.
‘I think he was annoying Arne Slot as well because he’s decided to get someone on is better on the ball at the back but can’t defend as well. He’s going all in.’
The decision to move Gravenberch into defence almost immediately paid off with Liverpool benefiting from his range of passing out from the back.
