<p id=”par-1_32″>Before she married <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/meghan-markle/?swcfpc=1″>Prince Harry</a>, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/meghan-markle/?swcfpc=1″>Meghan Markle</a> was married to another man, and some guests at that wedding remember a request the bride had that they found a bit odd. </p>
<p id=”par-2_69″>Meghan met her first husband, Trevor Engelson, at a bar in 2004. The future duchess and movie producer dated for seven years before tying the knot in 2011, the same year Meghan began <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/meghan-markle-getting-residual-checks-suits-surprise-streaming-success.html/”>starring in the legal drama <em>Suits</em></a>. The show marked Meghan’s first major acting gig and when it came time for her nuptials, she had one request for every guest who was attending the destination wedding. </p>
<p id=”par-3_19″><a href=”https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/2114374/meghan-markle-request-first-wedding?int_source=nba” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Express</a> noted that in her book <em>The Palace Papers</em>, biographer Tina Brown quoted a guest who attended. </p>
<p id=”par-4_53″>That person told Brown, “The only jarring [thing] is that Meghan sent out a note requesting ‘No social media, please.’ We were all laughing because she had been on <em>Suits</em> for a few months, and at that point, we were like, Is she kidding me? She was like, ‘I’m a really big actress.’”</p>

<p id=”par-6_25″>As we know now, the couple’s marriage didn’t last. Meghan filed for divorce in 2013, citing “irreconcilable differences,” and that was finalized in 2014. </p>
<p id=”par-7_27″>The former actress went on to marry Prince Harry in a highly publicized royal wedding in 2018. They share two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. </p>
<p id=”par-8_54″>In 2019, Engelson married Tracey Kurland at Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito, California (where the Sussexes now reside). Engelson and his wife have since welcomed three children together. Kurland is a nutritionist and a heiress. She inherited a fortune of over $200 million from her late father, Stanford Kurland, who founded the company PennyMac Corp.</p>
