Everton’s Twitter account made their feelings clear on Jack Grealish’s England snub following his injury-time winner against Crystal Palace.

Palace are flying high in the Premier League and were 19-games unbeaten in all competitions ahead of the trip to Merseyside on Sunday.

And it seemed that record-breaking run would continue when Daniel Munoz opened the scoring, with the Eagles battering the Toffees for much of the match.

But they failed to take their chances and Everton levelled the game in the 76th minute through an Iliman Ndiaye penalty after Maxence Lacroix clumsily fouled Tim Iroegbunam.

The momentum swung to the home side before Grealish scored a somewhat fortuitous goal from close range in the 93rd minute to spark wild scenes at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The attacking midfielder has looked reborn since leaving Manchester City on loan, with one goal and four assists in seven games, and was voted Premier League Player of the Month in August.

Yet, Thomas Tuchel did not recall Grealish to the England squad for the October international break, with Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden among the other surprise omissions.

Following his heroics on Sunday, Everton lauded their new hero and even changed the bio on their Twitter account to the simple message: ‘Grealish for England.’

The 30-year-old has been capped 39 times by the Three Lions but was not picked for Euro 2024 following a huge dip in form at City and he’s hoping this loan spell will get him on the plane to next summer’s World Cup.

‘I had two proper shots, I don’t know if you can count the goal as a shot,’ Grealish told Sky Sports of his injury-time strike.

‘I said I want to get in those positions more and the manager actually said it to me at half-time, try and get in at the back post and I was there and the goals come from that, so I have the manager to thank for that.

‘It’s brilliant. It’s so nice to score here. Do you know what’s mad? The last games we’ve played here we’ve been drawing and I keep saying to myself in the 85th minute, “Come on Jack, go and score. Imagine if you scored now”.

‘I did it against Villa, I did it against West Ham and I didn’t score, so today I actually said the same thing again and I scored and I ran to where my mum and dad were, so it was nice. That goal goes to all the Evertonians for making me feel so welcome here.’

For his late winner Grealish was named Player of the Match, but the 30-year-old believes a Palace player was more deserving of the award.

‘It was difficult today against such a good team. They have some unbelievable players,’ he added.

‘I think Adam Wharton today, I can see the Man of the Match award there, I think it’s coming to me but I think it should go to Adam Wharton because, in my opinion, he was the best player on the pitch today.’

England midfielder Wharton was also shockingly snubbed by Tuchel despite his hugely impressive performances for the Eagles.
