Yankees Legend CC Sabathia Rips Former Teammate Over Post

The New York Yankees legend CC Sabathia hasn’t forgotten Clint Frazier’s turbulent exit from the Bronx—or his constant jabs at the Yankees. When Frazier joked online about sitting with the Bleacher Creatures for Game 3 of the ALDS, Sabathia didn’t laugh.

Responding to an Instagram post that featured Frazier’s question—shared initially on X—the former Yankees ace fired off a blunt comment: “F–[explicit] [clown emoji].” The emoji added humor, but his tone left no doubt about his feelings.

Sabathia Still Fed Up With Frazier’s Antics

The tension between Sabathia and Frazier runs deep. Frazier, who played for the Yankees from 2017 to 2021, has spent years criticizing the team since leaving. After signing with the Cubs in free agency, he accused New York of being “too reliant on rocket scientists” and claimed the team “does dumbass s–[explicit]” when making decisions.

Sabathia blasted those remarks. On his podcast in 2021, the 2009 World Series champion once said he’d “punch somebody in the f–king face” if he heard another story about Frazier complaining about the Yankees.

“S–[explicit] is ridiculous,” Sabathia said. “That kid played 15 games in the f–[explicit] big leagues. Get the f–[explicit] out of here with all these stupid-ass f–[explicit] stories.”

Sabathia saw Frazier’s struggles firsthand. The former first-round pick entered New York with high expectations after the 2016 trade that sent Andrew Miller to Cleveland. Frazier flashed power at times but never found consistency. His shaky defense, repeated demotions, and clashes with team staff defined his Yankees tenure far more than his bat.

Frazier Keeps Stirring the Pot

Even during the Yankees’ current postseason run, Frazier keeps inserting himself into the conversation. Earlier this week, he mocked Aaron Boone’s lineup decisions, criticizing the choice to sit Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Ben Rice in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series.

He’s taken similar shots before. In August, he claimed the Yankees couldn’t win the World Series because they “do dumbass decisions.”

Sabathia, who remains loyal to the organization and still works closely with the team, didn’t let that slide. His sharp comment on social media showed how little patience he has left for a former teammate who continues to poke at the Yankees from afar.

Frazier’s behavior hasn’t won him many allies in New York. Fans remember his talent, but they also remember his attitude. Every dig he posts online only strengthens the feeling that he squandered his chance in pinstripes.

As the Yankees prepare for Game 3 of the ALDS at Yankee Stadium, the Bleacher Creatures will fill the outfield seats, chanting names and firing up the crowd as they always do. If Frazier ever tried to join them, he’d get no cheers—only cold shoulders.

Sabathia’s message cut through the noise: some bridges stay burned. The Yankees’ brotherhood still runs strong years after his retirement, and players like Frazier, who left chaos behind, remain outside that circle.
