Tina Turner’s Son’s Final Moments Revealed by Family Member in Loving Tribute

Tina Turner and Ike Turner’s son, Ike Turner Jr., has died. He was 67. 

Social media has been flooded with loving statements for the late Turner Jr., and his sister-in-law, Afida Turner, who was married to Ronnie Turner, also shared a heartfelt tribute. Ronnie passed away in December 2022. 

Afida Turner Reveals Ike Turner Jr.’s Passing 

Afida posted a photo collage on Instagram on Sunday, October 5. In the caption, she shared her thoughts and reflected on the last moment she had with Turner Jr. “REST IN PEACE IKE JR : U WAS AMAZING BROTHER IN LAW I M GLAD I SPEAK WITH U ON A PHONE BEFORE U GONE LOVE U RIP,” she wrote. 

The comment section was flooded with messages of love and support for Afida and the family. “Such a beautiful tribute, Afida.  May his legacy live on,” a comment reads. ”Can’t believe this! Incredible legacy,” another person wrote. 

Other reactions include, “Rest in peace ike junior with your stepmother Tina with your brother Ronnie and Craig I am heartbroken for rest of turner family and to sister in law Afida,” “Oh wow, what a beautiful tribute!,” and “My condolences to you and your family.” 

Remembering the Life of Ike Turner Jr. 

The news of Turner Jr.’s death was announced in a statement by the family. “Ike Jr. died Saturday at a Los Angeles hospital from kidney failure,” Tina’s niece Jacqueline Bullock told TMZ. The publication reports that Turner Jr. had “battled severe heart issues for years,” and that his health had been declining. “He also recently suffered a stroke in early September,” TMZ reports.

In a statement to the New York Post, Bullock shared her love for her cousin. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my cousin, Ike Turner, Jr.,” Bullock said. “‘Junior’ was more than a cousin to me, but rather a brother, as we grew up in the same famed household together.”

Her statement continues, “As the son of Tina and Ike Turner, from an early age, his talents were evident as there wasn’t an instrument he did not want to play. While he favored the drums early on, my aunt and his mother, Tina Turner, insisted that he break down his drum kit after each practice. This led him to favor the keys. Eventually, Junior would end up helping to run Bolic Sound Studios, the recording studios founded by his father, Ike Turner.” 

Bullock revealed that Turner Jr. was a “sound engineer, musician, and Grammy winner for Best Traditional Blues Album in 2007 for his father’s ‘Risin’ With The Blues.’” Turner Jr. was adopted by Tina, but was born in 1958 to Ike and Lorraine Taylor, TMZ reports.
