Vikings WR Justin Jefferson Calls Out Jordan Addison Over Missed Walkthrough

The Minnesota Vikings grinded out a 21-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday morning, but it didn’t come without its drama. Kicker Will Reichard missed a controversial field goal attempt that appeared to hit a camera cable along the way, and wide receiver Jordan Addison was surprisingly benched for the first quarter of this game.

Addison ended up scoring the game-winning touchdown for the Vikings, but it’s clear he rubbed his team the wrong way after he missed a walkthrough earlier in the week, which led to his benching early in the game. After picking up the win, Addison’s partner in crime, Justin Jefferson, did not hold back when discussing the talented wide receiver’s latest mistake.

Justin Jefferson Doesn’t Hold Back on Jordan Addison

While Addison has managed to turn himself into a key part of the Vikings‘ offense early in his career, staying out of trouble off the field has not been nearly as smooth a process for him. Addison was suspended for the first three games of the 2025 campaign for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, and he’s also been arrested twice since entering the league for reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Minnesota was thrilled to get Addison back from his aforementioned suspension, but it didn’t take long for him to find his way back into the doghouse after he missed a team walkthrough. Addison rebounded and ended up catching five passes for 41 yards and a touchdown, but there’s no doubt that the team’s patience with his off-field troubles is running thin.

That’s precisely what Jefferson is looking for Addison to do moving forward, largely because the Vikings need him on the field as much as possible. While Jefferson praised Addison for closing out this game with a touchdown, he also made it clear that he needs to work on growing up and becoming a better teammate for his squad.

“It’s a difficult situation,” Jefferson admitted. “I definitely have my words with J, but it’s all about growing up and being a part of the team, knowing the stakes and knowing that he’s a valuable part of this team. It’s more about the team and more about us as a whole, not focusing individually on J. For him to come out with that going on and still being able to make plays out there and finishing the game with a touchdown to get us up, it was like it was meant to happen.”

At the end of the day, the Vikings did what they needed to do in order to escape their matchup against the Browns with a win. After losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, Ireland, in Week 4, Minnesota bounced back and closed off its trip to Europe with a victory over Cleveland in London, England.

There’s no doubt that the Vikings will be thrilled to return home, and they will get to enjoy some downtime, as they have a bye week in Week 6. When the team returns to action, they will draw a tough matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct 19.
