James Morrison has announced he’s been forced to cancel a string of upcoming shows.

The English singer rose to fame with the release of his debut single You Give Me Something, which peaked in the top five in the UK Singles Chart, in 2006. He went on to win the Brit Award for best British male the following year.

Since then, he’s released six albums, including Fight Another Day last week.

But while he was set to be touring the UK promoting his latest work, he’s now had to axe shows.

Sharing an update with fans on social media, the 41-year-old explained: ‘I’ve been advised that I’m not well enough to perform the remaining dates of my instore tour.

‘It breaks my heart as I was so looking forward to playing for you all.

‘I’ll be working with my team to reschedule the show as soon as possible. Please keep an eye out for a new date. Thank you so much for your understanding and support.’

The singer’s cancellations are for shows in Nottingham, Liverpool, Bristol, Marlborough, Leeds, Kingston and London.

Earlier this year James made his return to the stage after taking a break for over a year following the death of his former partner Gill Catchpole in January 2024.

The couple had been together since 2006 and have two daughters, Elsie, born in 2008, and Ada Rose, born in 2018.

After getting engaged in 2006, they wore bands but never married. They split a year before Catchpole died.

An inquest later concluded that the 45-year-old took her own life by hanging at their home in Gloucestershire, having left a series of handwritten notes behind for her loved ones.

Soon after returning to the stage at In It Together Festival in in Wales, James shared a series of photos of himself performing.

His caption read: ‘It was an absolute pleasure to perform at @inittogetherfestival last night. Thank you to the wonderful crowd who welcomed me back.’

This week it was reported by The Sun that James is now dating travel influencer Mariel Jones, who has posted several photos on holidays with him over the past few months.
