1. Johnson Is A Former Professional Soccer Player
Johnson just wrapped up a nine-year professional soccer career, primarily playing in the NWSL.
She played for the Seattle Reign, Sky Blue FC, the Chicago Red Stars, San Diego Wave, and Angel City FC.
She also played internationally for the Mexican National team from 2015-2018.
In her NWSL career, Johnson scored 15 goals in 150 appearances. She scored 8 international goals in 23 appearances.
She announced her retirement from professional soccer on December 20, 2024. Since retiring from professional soccer, Katie Johnson has remained physically active and currently works as a pilates instructor in Michigan.
2. Johnson Is From Southern California
Katie Johnson was born on September 14, 1994 in Monrovia, California to her parents Dennis Johnson and Esther Carreón.
She attended Flintredge Sacred Heart Academy in La Canada, California for high school, scored 57 goals for their soccer team and was an honor student.
She grew up idolizing soccer icon Alex Morgan and hoping to be on a game show one day.
Playing for Angel City FC, so close to her hometown, for the last two seasons of her career meant a lot to Johnson.
3. Johnson Attended USC And Played College Soccer
Katie Johnson attended USC and was on the Trojans’ soccer team from 2012-2016.
She was a key member of the USC’s 2016 national championship team. Johnson scored the only goal in the NCAA semifinal and two goals in the final to propel the Trojans to the national title.
She graduated from USC in the Winter of 2016 with a degree in Public Policy, Planning and Development.
4. Her Sister, Isabelle Also Played Soccer At USC
Isabelle Johnson, Katie’s older sister, also attended USC and played for the soccer team from 2010-2012.
She majored in civil engineering at USC.
Isabelle was also a star soccer player in high school, helping Flintredge Sacred Heart Academy win their first Mission League championship in school history in 2009.
5. Flaherty and Johnson Hard Launched Their Relationship Recently
The world first learned that Jack Flaherty and Katie Johnson were dating when she posted photos of them together on July 17, 2025.
Johnson posted several photos from the couple’s date at the three-Michelin-star restaurant The French Laundry in the Napa Valley region of Northern California. The timing of the post coincided with the MLB All-Star break.
Both Flaherty and Johnson then shared a photobooth photoshoot in early August.
The two are only a few months into their relationship, but there is lots to be excited about…including this Tigers playoff run!
