The Hardy Boyz made WWE history on Tuesday night during NXT and TNA Wrestling’s ShowDown event.

Matt and Jeff Hardy captured the NXT Tag Team Championships against DarkState during the two companys’ first collaborative event on this week’s NXT broadcast.

As well as their first taste of WWE gold together since 2019, the brothers are the first wrestlers to hold a WWE title while under contract with TNA.

It’s also the first time the duo have won the NXT tag titles, making them the only team in history to capture championships in WCW, Ring of Honor, TNA, WWE and NXT.

After the show, Matt wrote on X: ‘Thank you to all the dieHARDYs that have always believed in me & Jeff. YOU FUEL US. #WWE #WWENXT’

He also retweeted a post laying out the resume of the Hardy Boyz, including their WWF/WWE World Tag Team Titles and the Raw and SmackDown iterations, alongside the gold they held in WCW, TNA, ROH and now NXT.

To make things even more special for the legendary siblings, they’ve become double champions by capturing the NXT titles while already holding the TNA straps.

Not surprisingly, fans are gobsmacked after reliving their childhood with the epic moment.

‘The Hardy Boyz Are The TNA World Tag Team Champions & The NXT Tag Team Champions History Has Been Made 🔥🔥🔥 #WWENXT,’ wrote @Alien1392 on X.

‘Love to see this! The Hardy Boyz shaped my childhood,’ added @El_Tazo15, while @Christhegoaty said: ‘The Hardy Boyz wrestling on WWE television in 2025 is just insane. I love to see it.’

Back in January, Matt and Jeff spoke of their commitment to continuing to ‘elevate’ TNA Wrestling during an exciting period in wrestling.

Speaking exclusively to Metro, Matt said: ‘We’re committed. We’re with TNA for another year, and we’re very excited and happy about that.

‘We really want to continue to try and help elevate TNA as much as we possibly can. That’s mine and Jeff’s goal, because TNA is a very important, integral part of the business. It needs to be successful. And we want it to be successful.’

Meanwhile, he made it clear even then that the brothers had some unfinished business in WWE.

‘If it wasn’t for the WWE, Jeff and I wouldn’t be who we are. So we’re very grateful to them for that,’ he said. ‘I feel like that is always going to be the place we consider home.’

WWE NXT airs every Tuesday night at 1am on Netflix. Keep up with TNA Wrestling on the TNA+ app.
