Nicole Kidman has proven she really can do it all. In the newest Vogue cover story, Kidman breaks down her storied career, discusses how Taylor Swift has inspired her and her teenage daughters to just “Shake it Off,” and how she channels the good, the bad, and the ugly into her work after her recent separation from ex-husband Keith Urban.
Kidmanâs Record Breaking Cover & 40 Year Career
Adorned in Saint Laurent, the Academy Award winning actress will appear on the November 2025 cover of US Vogue. This will be the ninth cover for Kidman, officially setting the record for the most covers by any actress in the magazineâs history. In her record breaking cover story, Kidman reflects on her extensive career with Vogue journalist Wendell Steavenson.
âKidmanâs movie-star exterior is shiny, implacable, flawless, but inside is the soft stuff: intuitive, porous, sensitive. She often used the word open in describing herself. Her acting seems to meld the persona and the personalâa photogenic clarity and stillness that draws on a deep well of human emotion,â writes Steavenson.Â
From starring in arthouse films like âEyes Wide Shutâ to blockbusters like âAquaman,â to binge-worthy TV shows, Kidmanâs impressive range not only as an actress, but also as a producer, has garnered attention and praise from all over the world. And it doesnât seem like Kidman will be slowing down any time soon. âTaking a risk is what Iâve always done,â she told Steavenson. âYou get back up and you try again and you learn.â
As someone who understands how hard it is to produce her own films, Kidman publicly made it her mission to work with female directors as often as she can. In the eight years since vowing to do so, the âBig Little Liesâ star has worked with 27 female directors.
How Kidman Deals with Online Judgement & Hate

Though Steavenson didnât want to pry during his interview with Kidman, he had to ask how she felt about her divorce, whom she was married to for 19 years. âHow many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going and then it isnât going in that direction?â Kidman responded. Luckily, she has a close circle of âride-or-dieâ friends, as she describes, to lean on for support. She also fuels all of these feelings into her art. âI put it in my work. Thatâs the beauty of what I do. Thereâs a place for some of this to explode, implode, process, discover.â
After years of learning how to protect herself in such a grueling industry, Kidman is now able to instill this knowledge in her teenage daughters. When it comes to counseling them on how to deal with hate, especially online, Kidman has decided to take a page out of singer-songwriter Taylor Swiftâs book. âLiterally walk away from it,â Kidman said. âBecause it will fell you. It will destroy you.âÂ
