Bills Get Unfortunate News on No. 1 TE Ahead of Falcons Game

The Buffalo Bills look to get back in the win column following an ugly 23-20 defeat to the New England Patriots in Week 5.

Buffalo’s first loss of the season coming against a division rival was a tough blow. Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who threw for 253 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, along with nine carries for 53 rushing yards, struggled to find anything good to say about the team’s offensive performance after the game.

According to Allen, there was one bright spot, tight end Dalton Kincaid, who recorded six catches for 108 yards. “We shouldn’t even have been in the game with three turnovers. Just piss poor offense,” Allen told reporters. However, “Dalton Kincaid played fantastic tonight. He’s doing a good job of being friendly and making some plays.”

Heading into Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons, Kincaid has the second-most receiving yards (287) among tight ends this season. While the 2023 first-rounder seems to be having his breakout season finally, Kincaid suffered an unexpected injury setback this week.

Bills TE Dalton Kincaid ‘Limited’ For The 2nd Consecutive Day With An Oblique Injury

Kincaid showed up to practice on Thursday in a red non-contact jersey. The team’s official injury report listed him as “limited” with an oblique injury. It’s not clear when the 25-year-old sustained the injury, however, he remained in non-contact jersey on Friday, October 10.

With Kincaid hitting his stride with Allen this season, any sort of setback is unfortunate. Kincaid was criticized for failing to live up to first-round expectations last season, perhaps falling victim to a sophomore slump. However, Allen’s confidence in him never wavered.

“Last year he was banged up,” Allen said on the “Fitz and Whit” podcast last month. “He played through a lot of different things, and I really appreciate what he did for us last year, but I’m not going to sit here and say he’s going to have this many yards for this many touchdowns. All I’m going to say is he’s an absolute stud.

“I love having him out there. I love throwing to him. He’s an easy guy to throw to, and he puts his body on the line each and every game.”

Should Kincaid be unable to go against Atlanta, the Bills will look toward veteran tight end Dawson Knox and rookie Jackson Hawes to step up.

Bills WR Curtis Samuel Is Back On The Injury Report Before Week 6 Vs. Falcons

Luckily for Buffalo, Kincaid has an extra day to prepare this week with the Bills-Falcons matchup taking place on Monday Night Football. However, Bills wide receiver Curtis Samuel, who was limited in practice on Thursday with a neck/rib injury, didn’t practice at all on Friday.

It’s a frustrating development for Samuel, who can’t seem to stay healthy, especially after his big game against New England. He caught both his receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown and racked up a total of 86 yards on three kick returns.

Other players not practicing on Friday include linebacker Matt Milano (pectoral), defensive tackle TJ Sanders (knee), and safety Damar Hamlin (pectoral), per The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia.
