The Baltimore Ravens aren’t exactly in a great spot heading into Week 6 of the 2025 NFL campaign. Not only does the team have a 1-4 record, but they are also dealing with a slew of injuries that are making it increasingly difficult for them to get back on track, with the most crushing of the bunch being the hamstring injury that looks like it’s going to keep quarterback Lamar Jackson off the field again for the team’s next game.
With players continuing to drop like flies, the front office has been scrambling to fill out their roster. The Ravens’ secondary has also gotten hit hard by the injury bug, so on Friday, that led the team to make an interesting move involving former New York Giants cornerback Tre Hawkins, who has also worked his way back from a hamstring injury recently.
Ravens Bring Tre Hawkins in for a Workout
Baltimore’s secondary has struggled to stay afloat in recent weeks due to all the injuries they are dealing with. Both Chidobe Awuzie and Marlon Humphrey are banged up, and a pair of depth options, Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam, are on injured reserve. At safety, Kyle Hamilton has also missed time, although he’s off the injury report heading into Week 6.
With Awuzie and Humphrey both potentially set to miss the team’s upcoming game against the Los Angeles Rams, that led the front office to take a look at Hawkins. A former sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Hawkins spent the first two seasons of his career with the Giants. He played in all 17 games for the team as a rookie, racking up 35 tackles and one pass deflection during his time on the field.
Nate Wiggins has continued to hold down the fort for the Ravens, but the guys behind Awuzie and Humphrey on the depth chart have struggled. With that in mind, the team brought Hawkins in for a workout on Friday, but he ultimately did not put pen to paper on a deal, as he has two upcoming workouts on his schedule.
“Ravens worked out veteran NFL corner Tre Hawkins today, per a league source,” Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reported in a post on X. “Two more upcoming workouts after hamstring injury in camp. Former Giants draft pick has played 20 games, recorded 45 tackles, one interception. Interest 49ers, Lions, Dolphins, Colts per source.”

Regardless of what Hawkins ends up doing, the Ravens aren’t going to have him at their disposal in Week 6, so they are going to have to figure out how to piece together their secondary if Awuzie and Humphrey can’t play. Jaire Alexander, T.J. Tampa, and Keyon Martin have picked up more snaps in their absences, but they haven’t been particularly effective, which is why the team is looking at Hawkins.
Baltimore draws a tough matchup against Los Angeles in Week 6, and Jackson’s impending absence will make earning a victory even more difficult. The San Francisco 49ers proved last week that the Rams are vulnerable, but the Ravens showed very few signs of life in their blowout loss to the Houston Texans last week. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, and the team will be keeping close tabs on Hawkins to see which team he ends up landing with.
