The Edmonton Oilers didn’t start the year exactly how they wanted. They fell to the Calgary Flames in a shootout loss on Wednesday night and will look to get their first W of the season against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
It might be early in the season, but it’s never too early to go over the latest rumors surrounding the Oilers. This edition will look at Alex Tuch and Adrian Kempe, who are linked to the Oilers. This edition will also examine some interesting details about Jack Roslovic.

The Oilers are no strangers to the Buffalo Sabres organization. One summer ago, they traded Ryan McLeod to the Sabres to bring in Matt Savoie. The latter now finds himself on a line with Andrew Mangiapane and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins at the most recent Oilers practice.
NHL insider Jeff Marek revealed that there is a lot of noise between Tuch and the Oilers.
“I think we’re at the point now with the Buffalo Sabres,” Marek began when he spoke to the hosts of the Sekeres and Price show on October 10. “American Thanksgiving rolls around, how many players are gonna be asking out? Alex Tuch hasn’t signed; there’s a lot of talk about Tuch around the Oilers.”
This builds off of what David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period said during the Daily Faceoff Live show on October 9.
“If this team doesn’t have him (Tuch) signed, and by the halfway point we already know we’re focusing on ’26-’27,” Pagnotta said. “Then I think you start to have discussions out there; the Oilers would be one of them.”
Tuch, 29, was initially drafted by the Minnesota Wild in 2014. The 6-foot-4, 219 lb winger has been scoring goals left, right, and center for the Sabres. For the last years, he has finished the season with 36, 22, and 36 goals, respectively.
Could the Oilers be in the Mix for Adrian Kempe?

The Los Angeles Kings became the owners of a fancy “new” GM in Ken Holland. However, not everything is sunshine and roses for the California-based team.
Elliotte Friedman was one insider who reported that the two sides have a long way to go before agreeing on an extension.
“It’s been pretty far apart, it’s been tough to bridge that gap; it’s still not close,” Friedman said on the FAN Hockey Show on October 10.
Pagnotta also has a report regarding the status of Kempe.
“As I mentioned this afternoon, the Kings and Kempe’s camp are pressing ‘pause’ on extension negotiations,” Pagnotta wrote on October 9 via a post on X. “But are expected to resume talks later this month.”
Kempe, 29, also has a knack for goal-scoring. Similarly to Tuch, he’s scored 41, 28, and 35 goals, respectively, over the last three seasons.
Roslovic Had More Lucrative Options on the Table
On the most recent episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast, Friedman revealed some details about Roslovic. Specifically, he mentioned that other teams would have offered the player a longer term.
“Someone told me that Roslovic had a two-year deal out there,” Friedman told his co-host on the October 10th episode. “Ultimately, (he) decided Edmonton was the best place; there were a few teams looking at him.”
Luckily for the Oilers, Roslovic remained interested in joining the organization. Now, it’s time to wait and see whether he becomes a fit or if the Oilers will get the ball rolling on another upgrade sooner rather than later.
