According to court records obtained by People, McCrary, 49, was arrested on Oct. 5 by the United States Border Patrol and booked at 7:17 p.m. in a San Diego County jail. Authorities listed the charge as a fugitive arrest tied to an out-of-state felony warrant.
McCraryâs next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 15, and he remains in custody without bail.
Court documents list McCraryâs case as a âfugitive arrest,â referencing a section of the California Penal Code that applies to individuals detained in the state who are wanted elsewhere for serious offenses.
However, a representative for the actor told TMZ that the warrant originated in Michigan and stemmed from a missed court appearance related to unpaid child support.
The âFamily Mattersâ alum has not publicly commented on the situation, but supporters have taken to social media to share messages of encouragement and calls for compassion. One fan wrote, “I HOPE ITS NOT TRUE I LOVE HIM,” while another commented, âThis is shocking news about Darius McCrary.â A third added simply, âSending prayers.â
