Keaton and Pacino met while filming the Oscar-winning epic gangster movie, “The Godfather.” Although the first movie in the trilogy came out in 1972, Keaton and Pacino didn’t start dating until they filmed the second “Godfather” movie in 1974. However, Keaton was interested in Pacino from the beginning.
Keaton told The Telegraph in 2013, âI was really very taken with Al from the very beginning.â While it would take some years for Keaton and Pacino to officially get together, the relationship was worth the wait.

According to Showbiz 411, Pacino talked about his relationship with Keaton in his 2024 memoir, “Sonny Boy.” In his book, Pacino admitted he wasn’t great at making the first move when it came to women, but things with Keaton “were different.” According to Pacino, “we always had a connection. She understood my read on things, and it felt comforting to have someone who got me. So I went after her. We hung out together, and after a couple of months we decided to get together. We found a tempo and a temperature that was right.”
Although the relationship eventually ended, Pacino looked back on his years with Keaton fondly, writing, “âBeing with Diane had a lot to do with my sense of peace and comfort. I had found that kind of comfort that makes you feel and think with the world.
