It’s that time of year. We’re well into the month of October, with the NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching. As Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season gets underway, teams are learning more and more about their rosters and who might be available on the trade block.
For the New York Giants, their trade deadline situation is complicated. Though the team is 2-4 and already made the switch to their rookie first-round pick quarterback in Jaxson Dart, they have two of the most impressive wins of the season, picking up victories over the Chargers and Eagles. Though they did drop a tough game to the Saints in Week 5, their other three losses are all to potential playoff teams in the Commanders, Cowboys, and Chiefs.
Whether the trade deadline comes and the Giants end up as buyers, sellers, or something in between, most teams are willing to trade away obsolete players who can fetch a return. Essentially, getting value out of player who are no longer in the team’s plans.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter names three New York players as potentially available on the trade market: QB Russell Wilson, RB Devin Singletary, and OT Evan Neal. Wilson has rather publicly been on the trade block since he was benched after Week 3’s loss to the Chiefs for Dart. Though it hasn’t been perfect, Dart has injected life into this Giants team, and he put on a stellar performance in a Week 6 win over the Eagles on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, Neal is former top-10 pick at tackle who was switched to guard in his second season and hasn’t panned out for the Giants. He’s buried on the depth chart and could be viewed as some additional offensive line depth for a needy team.
New York Giants RB Cam Skattebo’s Emerging Breakout Could Put RB Devin Singletary on the Trade Block

A fourth-round rookie out of Arizona State, Skattebo has been a fan-favorite everywhere he’s gone. His hard-nosed, punch-you-in-the-mouth running style and fiery personality endears him to teammates, coaches, and fans alike.
Over the last three games, Skattebo has emerged as the Giants go-to running back. He has 338 rushing yards and five touchdowns to go with 20 catches for 155 yards through the air. He’s clearly New York’s top back.
The Giants also have second-year RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. on the roster, a productive player last year who offers more in the passing game than Skattebo. Between the two of them, New York might have their running back duo of the future, making Singletary a luxury they can afford to trade.
Could the New York Giants Be Buyers at the Trade Deadline?
It sounds crazy, given they’re just 2-4 as it stands, but reports indicate the Giants are actively looking to add some pieces via trade mid-season. Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network released a trade rumors roundup on Saturday night, and they said something interesting about the Giants.
Apparently, New York is actively asking around about wide receivers potentially available for trade. The Giants lost their top receiver, 2024 No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers, to a torn ACL against the Chargers in Week 4. Without him, this passing attack as a pretty hard ceiling.
Most teams aren’t willing to trade away contributing receivers this time of year, leading to a seller’s market rather than a buyer’s one. Still, the Giants want to give their young rookie quarterback all the help he can get, especially if he keeps stacking performances like the one he had Thursday night in New York’s win over the Eagles.
