Following the success of their David Beckham documentary and their hit Victoria Beckham series, Netflix are on the hunt for another big win.
The major streaming platform premiered the four-part series Beckham in 2023 and released a follow-up Victoria Beckham docuseries earlier this month.
While the latest insightful programme has only been available to the public for a matter of days, it’s already been a hit with critics and viewers.
According to new reports, Netflix doesn’t want to stop there, with plans apparently in the works to secure a Spice Girls documentary in the near future.
The Mirror says: ‘Chiefs at Netflix are keen to build a series looking at the creation, global domination, split and then comeback of the Spice Girls – with [Victoria] at the helm.
‘Mel B and Geri Halliwell have been trying to create either a film or a show covering the Girl Power group’s rise in the 1990s. But these efforts have failed because of many factors.’

Now, it appears, those efforts may be about to bear fruit, with a source telling the publication that Netflix is keen to build on its relationship with the Beckhams.
According to the publication, the success of David and Victoria’s respective documentaries is being taken into account, with the footballer’s winning an Emmy, and the fashion designer sparking ‘enormous’ interest from viewers.
This has, in turn, reportedly resulted in a desire to ‘continue working on projects and ideas.

The source continued, emphasising that making a show centred on the Spice Girls ‘is 100% a goal’ for the streaming giant.
More comments suggested that any Spice Girls feature on Netflix would contain ‘the whole truth’ after 30 years of speculation and rumour about what happened behind the scenes.
‘For three decades, other people have told the girls’ stories, but no one has ever had the whole truth of their journey together on screen told fully [and] if Victoria does it then the likelihood is everyone will come out,’ they stated.
What does Metro make of the Victoria documentary?
Metro’s deputy entertainment editor Alana Anderson shares her thoughts in her 4.5-star review:
It all starts to click in the second episode… when Victoria addresses something which has unfortunately plagued her entire career – her weight. Disturbing headlines referencing her appearance are shown before a man on TV calls for her to ‘starve to death’.
I watched with my jaw on the floor. I knew the remarks about Victoria’s body have been rife and cruel, but I put myself in her shoes during that very moment and wondered how on earth she’s managed to cope.
The series also shines a light on David and Victoria’s 25 year marriage, a love which is palpable through the screen. While Victoria regularly pokes fun at the former footballer (a joke about his ‘magnificent cock’ while discussing their farm animals, and warning him not to get his fake tan on her white jacket).
Their marriage is clearly stronger than it’s ever been. David is fiercely protective of his wife and it shows.

In the documentary, Victoria revealed that she suffered from an eating disorder and body image issues during her peak years of popularity, which saw her constantly in the spotlight.
‘I didn’t know what I saw when I looked in the mirror… you lose all sense of reality. I’m just very critical of myself. I didn’t like what I saw.’
She continued: ‘It really affects you when you’re being told you’re not good enough. And I suppose that’s been with me my whole life.
‘When you have an eating disorder, you become very good at lying and I was never honest about it with my parents. I never talked about it publicly.’
Metro has contacted Netflix for more information.
The Beckham and Victoria Beckham documentaries are available to stream on Netflix.
