The Denver Broncos beat the New York Jets 13-11 in their Week 6 matchup in London.
After that victory, Broncos defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers sent a message to his old team across the field.
“I got counted out by the same people I was counting on, this is me just venting! #BroncosWin,” Myers posted on social media.
JFM Got After the Jets During the Broncos Win
Franklin-Myers finished the game with a sack and two quarterback hits. Through the first six games of the season, he has already accumulated three sacks and five quarterback hits.
The former Stephen F. Austin product responded to a tweet by NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger, who said, “@J_FranklinMyers had a busy afternoon in London seeing his old team…Such a big part of the Broncos turnaround #BaldysBreakdowns.”
Not only did JFM have individual success against his old team, but the entire Broncos defense put the Jets offense in a blender.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini revealed that Justin Fields finished with “the worst passing performance in New York Jets history.”
On the official box score, Fields passed for 45 yards. However, net passing yards factor in the yardage lost on sacks. On Sunday, Denver sacked Fields nine times, which accounted for 55 yards lost. In other words, Fields finished with negative 10 net passing yards.
The Jets Pulled off Arguably the Worst Trade in Team History
On April 1, 2024, the Jets officially acquired veteran pass rusher Haason Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a conditional 2026 third-round pick.
Shortly thereafter, then general manager Joe Douglas explained that because of that new addition, the team would have to move on from Franklin-Myers due to cap reasons.
JFM played for the Jets from 2019 through 2023. It was a Hollywood script: he got claimed off waivers by the Jets, developed into a starter, became a leader, and earned a big-money contract.
However, the team tossed him aside at a moment’s notice because they thought the grass was greener on the other side.
On April 29, 2024, the Jets struck a trade with the Broncos, shipping off Franklin-Myers in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. In other words, a half-eaten bag of Doritos just because they had to move on from his contract. Nothing more than a salary dump.
Reddick ultimately proved to be a disaster for the Jets. His entire tenure was marked by significant holdout contract drama. When he eventually got on the field, Reddick was ineffective, finishing with just one sack last season.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini revealed that Reddick showed up “out of shape” after ending his holdout halfway through the season.
Reddick stunk on the Jets and caused a lot of drama. Flip to the other side of the trade, Franklin-Myers had a career year with Denver in 2024.
He finished with new career highs in sacks (seven), combined tackles (40), solo tackles (18), and tackles for loss (8).
This is the worst trade in team history.
The Jets had a disappointing season, missing the playoffs for the 14th straight season. Reddick caused all kinds of drama that dragged down the team.
Denver enjoyed a playoff season with JFM delivering a career season for his new squad. In 2025, things are just getting worse. The Jets are winless at 0-6, and Denver has a shared piece of first place in the AFC West.
