Bills QB Josh Allen Has Simple 1-Word Answer to Rumors About His Health

Reigning MVP and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen appeared to be in pain after clutching his left arm following a sack by the Atlanta Falcons during “Monday Night Football.”

The play occurred on a third-and-8 with 12:43 remaining in the second quarter, when Allen was overwhelmed by Atlanta’s defense. After attempting to escape pressure up the middle and spinning to his left, he was quickly met by additional defenders. Dee Alford was credited with the 15-yard sack as three Falcons brought Allen down.

Allen remained on the ground briefly before rolling onto his back, his left arm resting on his stomach. Offensive linemen Dion Dawkins and Alec Anderson came over to check on him, and Allen eventually walked off the field while shaking his left hand.

Josh Allen Was Direct Postgame About His Hand

Allen was asked postgame after the Bills‘ 24-14 loss is he injured his hand in the first half. “No,” he said.

Another reporter followed-up with, “Are you playing completely healthy right now?” And Allen replied, “Yeah.”

Allen spent most of last season playing through a broken left hand, an injury he sustained in Week 1 of the 2024 season. Throughout the year, he wore a white glove and tape on his non-throwing hand to protect it.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott did not report an injury to Allen postgame. “I did not hear anything from our trainer during the game on Josh,” he said.

Josh Allen and the Bills Couldn’t Capitalize on Opportunities

A sluggish offensive performance and additional mistakes from Allen added to growing concerns about the Bills this season, as they drop to 4-2.

Allen threw two touchdown passes, one of which was a 16-yard strike to Ray Davis to open the second half.

Despite that, Allen and the Bills came up short on a fourth-down attempt near midfield late in the third quarter. They missed another chance to capitalize early in the fourth when Greg Rousseau blocked Parker Romo’s 37-yard field-goal attempt.

“Blocking the kick I thought was big for us,” McDermott said. “Obviously, I thought we had some momentum coming out of that. … So overall, opportunities, just not good enough and getting the result we want.”

Allen and the Bills once again failed to capitalize, and the Falcons put the game out of reach with a 14-play, five-minute drive highlighted by Michael Penix Jr.’s 23-yard completion to Bijan Robinson. Parker Romo capped the series with a 33-yard field goal, stretching Atlanta’s lead to 10 points and leaving Buffalo just 1:47 on the clock with no timeouts.

“They had a good plan,” Allen said of the Falcons. “Looks like they came off the bye week and got to game-plan us quite a bit. Again, I’ve got to be better in seeing the things they’re trying to do to us and make adjustments accordingly.”

It’s the bye week for the Bills, who face the Carolina Panthers in Week 8, Oct. 26.
