Milwaukee Bucks Could Make Unique NBA History Against Thunder

The Milwaukee Bucks have been in the news all offseason, mostly for things they would rather not be true.

After a third-straight first-round exit, trade rumors surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo started to heat up. He has been linked to the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs, among others. The Bucks are not expected to trade Antetokounmpo unless he formally demands a trade.

In an effort to appease him, the Bucks added two of his brothers, Alex and Thanasis, to the roster this offseason. It marks the first time three brothers have been on the same team.

How Milwaukee Bucks Can Make History

In 2019, Justin, Aaron, and Jrue Holiday became the first set of brothers to play in the same game, although Jrue stood opposite of Justin and Aaron, playing for the New Orleans Pelicans while his brothers suited up for the Indiana Pacers.

Never before have three brothers all played on the same team. Giannis is signed to a maximum contract, Thanasis is on a minimum deal, and Alex is on a two-way contract.

Kostas, the fourth Antetokounmpo brother, is playing in Greece. He has previously suited up for the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers, winning a ring in 2020.

On October 14, the Bucks will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in a preseason game. Gary Harris is the only player on the injury report, allowing the Bucks to play Giannis, Alex, and Thanasis all at the same time.

Vast Talent Gap Between Antetokounmpo Brothers

Kostas may have been the first Antetokounmpo to win an NBA title, but Giannis is easily the best. He is a two-time MVP, nine-time All-Star, and Finals MVP. Alex is yet to make a regular-season appearance, Kostas is out of the league, and Thanasis has been compared to Bronny James for being a “nepo baby.”

It’s plain and clear that the Bucks signed Giannis’ two brothers in an effort to keep them happy. None of them have ever averaged more than ten minutes per game. Giannis, on the other hand, is a superstar.

If the Bucks get off to a slow start this season, the Greek Freak is expected to demand a trade. Bronny seemed to be enough to keep LeBron in Los Angeles last season, although Giannis is not past his prime.

He has a lot of winning basketball left in the tank, and the Bucks will need to show more than just loyalty if they want to keep him around.
